Cillian Murphy told The Observer<\/a> that his role in 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple is limited. He explained that he is \u201conly in it for a little bit\u201d but that his appearance in the second film sets him up to become a central character in the planned third entry. Murphy added, \u201cEveryone\u2019s got to go and see the second one. I\u2019m sure they will \u2013 it\u2019s really, really good.\u201d<\/p>\n Murphy did not return for 28 Weeks Later but reprises his original role as Jim from Danny Boyle\u2019s 28 Days Later in 2002. Director Nia DaCosta has already completed filming The Bone Temple. The story continues the franchise\u2019s timeline decades after the Rage Virus outbreak. The film will release in January 2026 and introduces new survivors alongside the returning character.<\/p>\n Danny Boyle, who directed the original, confirmed that he used Murphy\u2019s appearance as a key element to secure momentum for the trilogy. \u201cShe gets a bit of Cillian at the end.
