{"id":494875,"date":"2026-06-16T03:22:14","date_gmt":"2026-06-16T03:22:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/il\/494875\/"},"modified":"2026-06-16T03:22:14","modified_gmt":"2026-06-16T03:22:14","slug":"support-scheme-delivers-300-sessions-for-carers-in-jersey","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/il\/494875\/","title":{"rendered":"Support scheme delivers 300 sessions for carers in Jersey"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Carers supporting people with mental illness have accessed more than 300 sessions of emotional and practical support in the first six months of a new partnership in Jersey.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">The Listening Lounge has been working alongside Dementia Jersey, Focus on Mental Illness and Jersey Eating Disorders Support to deliver the Carer Support Service, project leaders said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Since November, the four organisations have run a range of groups, giving carers access to support including mental health first aid and Caring for Carers courses.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Director of mental health provision at the LV Care Group, Lucy Nicolaou, said the response to the service highlighted the need for the support and the positive impact it can have.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Work began after Health and Care Jersey awarded a three-year contract in 2025 to the Listening Lounge.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Nicolaou said it was important to recognise the &#8220;invaluable contribution made by those supporting loved ones living with mental health difficulties&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">&#8220;Too often, carers do not identify themselves as such and can miss out on the support available to them,&#8221; she said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">&#8220;Through this partnership, we are working together to build a more carer-friendly community by helping Islanders recognise their caring role, access support and feel valued for the vital contribution they make every day.&#8221;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Carers supporting people with mental illness have accessed more than 300 sessions of emotional and practical support in&hellip;\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":494876,"comment_status":"","ping_status":"","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[35],"tags":[163,85,46,522,523],"class_list":["post-494875","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-mental-health","tag-health","tag-il","tag-israel","tag-mental-health","tag-mentalhealth"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/il\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/494875","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/il\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/il\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/il\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/2"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/il\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=494875"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/il\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/494875\/revisions"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/il\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/494876"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/il\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=494875"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/il\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=494875"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/il\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=494875"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
