{"id":495734,"date":"2026-06-16T15:14:09","date_gmt":"2026-06-16T15:14:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/il\/495734\/"},"modified":"2026-06-16T15:14:09","modified_gmt":"2026-06-16T15:14:09","slug":"the-odyssey-breaks-bfi-imax-ticket-sales-records","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/il\/495734\/","title":{"rendered":"The Odyssey Breaks BFI Imax Ticket Sales Records"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t<a href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/t\/christopher-nolan\/\" id=\"auto-tag_christopher-nolan\" data-tag=\"christopher-nolan\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Christopher Nolan<\/a>\u2018s \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/t\/the-odyssey\/\" id=\"auto-tag_the-odyssey\" data-tag=\"the-odyssey\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">The Odyssey<\/a>\u201d may not be out for another month, but it\u2019s already smashing sales records in the U.K. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tThe <a href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/t\/bfi\/\" id=\"auto-tag_bfi\" data-tag=\"bfi\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">BFI<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/t\/imax\/\" id=\"auto-tag_imax\" data-tag=\"imax\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Imax<\/a>, the U.K.\u2019s largest screen \u2014\u00a0owned and operated by the British Film Institute and located in central London \u2014\u00a0has revealed that it sold 28,000 tickets in its first 24 hours, breaking the venue\u2019s first day sales records with a total gross of \u00a3750,000 ($1 million). <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tThis news follows four opening weekend screenings that had previously sold out in under an hour a full year in advance, including a special midnight showing that it set to kickstart a weekend of non-stop round-the-clock screenings. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t\u201cThe Odyssey\u2019s\u201d first day BFI Imax takings have more than doubled the previous record held by \u201cDune: Part Two,\u201d which took \u00a3366,000 ($490,000) gross in the first 24 hours of on sale and almost quadrupled Nolan\u2019s previous film \u201cOppenheimer,\u201d which took \u00a3254,000 ($340,000) gross in the same timeframe.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tIn the U.S., \u201cThe Odyssey\u201d also broke records when premium large format ticket went on sale a full year in advance in 2025. Initial pre-sales saw roughly 150,000 tickets sold and $3.4 million generated in just 24 hours, the highest in four years.
