The official website for the television anime<\/a> of T\u014dwa<\/a>‘s The World’s Strongest Rearguard – Labyrinth Country’s Novice Seeker<\/a> (Sekai Saiky\u014d no K\u014dei: Meiky\u016bkoku no Shinjin Tansakusha<\/a>) light novel series started streaming the anime’s second promotional video on Thursday. The video reveals and previews the opening theme song “license” by Redhair Rosy<\/a>, and the ending theme song “Owaranai Yoru no Mamori-kata” (How to Protect the Endless Night) by Inner Journey<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The anime will air on Tokyo MX<\/a> on July 5 at 10:00 p.m. JST, and will also air on BS11<\/a> and Sun TV<\/a>. Crunchyroll<\/a> will stream<\/a> the anime as it airs.<\/p>\n

Y\u016bji Yanase<\/a> (Apocalypse Bringer Mynoghra<\/a>, I\u2019ll Become a Villainess Who Goes Down in History<\/a>, By the Grace of the Gods<\/a> two seasons) is directing the anime at Maho Film<\/a>. Deko Akao<\/a> (Arakawa Under the Bridge<\/a> two seasons, The Detective Is Already Dead<\/a>, Ragna Crimson<\/a>) is in charge of series scripts, and Eriko Yanagimoto<\/a> (Betrothed to My Sister’s Ex<\/a>, Quality Assurance in Another World<\/a> episode animation director) is the main character designer.<\/p>\n

Yen Press<\/a> publishes<\/a> the light novels in English and describes the story:<\/p>\n

Corporate slave Arihito Atobe’s death in a freak bus accident marks the beginning of his new life as a kind of adventurer called a Seeker. Reborn into a fantasy world, he settles into a previously unknown job class called \u201crearguard,\u201d capable of providing his (all-female) party with critical attack, defense, and recovery support. And it comes with an added bonus: Simply being at the back of the party line increases his companions’ fondness for him! Freed from the shackles of corporate life, Arihito is eager to start fresh as a newly minted Seeker!<\/p>\n

T\u014dwa launched<\/a> the story on the Sh\u014dsetsuka ni Nar\u014d website in April 2017. Kadokawa<\/a> published the novels’ first volume with illustration by Huuka Kazabana<\/a> in November 2017. The ninth volume shipped on September 10.<\/p>\n

Rikizo<\/a> launched<\/a> the manga adaptation on Kadokawa’s Comic Walker<\/a> web manga site in March 2018. Kadokawa published the first compiled book volume in September 2018, and the 10th volume shipped on January 23. Yen Press also publishes the manga adaptation in English.<\/p>\n
