Joanna Stern, formerly of The Wall Street Journal, spent a week testing iOS 27\u2019s new Siri in a variety of ways. Her new video<\/a> offers a great overview of the strengths and shortcomings of Siri AI in the current beta.<\/p>\n Here\u2019s how the first week with Siri AI went for Joanna Stern<\/p>\n If you\u2019re interested to know how the new Siri AI in iOS 27 performs, Joanna Stern has posted a new video that offers a great hands-on look.<\/p>\n The \u201cIs Siri finally good?\u201d title is answered strongly in the affirmative by Stern in her post on X<\/a>:<\/p>\n A couple impressive examples from her video involve Siri\u2019s new \u2018Personal context\u2019 features.<\/p>\n On a trip to the beach, Stern asks Siri: \u201dI\u2019d like to get some souvenirs for the kids. Based on what you know about them, what should I get them here?\u201d <\/p>\n Siri\u2019s highly personalized and informed response prompted this follow-up: \u201dSiri that\u2019s pretty dead-on. How did you know that information about my kids?\u201d The answer: it was based on information in the Messages app.<\/p>\n Similarly, another example involved Siri pulling data from Stern\u2019s calendar, Messages app, and even voicemail. Armed with that information, Siri helpfully provided suggestions of what Stern could work on that day.<\/p>\n These two scenarios show Siri AI\u2019s unique advantages thanks to a wealth of on-device data. \u201cAI is only as good as the data it has. And oh boy, does Apple have a lot of mine.
