{"id":501605,"date":"2026-06-19T22:45:18","date_gmt":"2026-06-19T22:45:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/il\/501605\/"},"modified":"2026-06-19T22:45:18","modified_gmt":"2026-06-19T22:45:18","slug":"execs-are-warning-that-eu-overregulation-is-constraining-business","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/il\/501605\/","title":{"rendered":"Execs are warning that EU overregulation is constraining business"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>EU overregulation is constraining business, a steel magnate and a Gulf sovereign wealth chief warned. <\/p>\n<p>ArcelorMittal\u2019s executive chairman wrote in the Financial Times that emissions trading rules <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ft.com\/content\/59ea85a0-355e-4f5c-a3d4-5c3c9df27892?syn-25a6b1a6=1\" class=\"_linkEmbed_1pt7l_31\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">hurt energy-intensive industries<\/a>, while the governor of Saudi Arabia\u2019s Public Investment Fund said the regulatory environment <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ft.com\/content\/35e079fa-04d7-44ae-9567-a595353f05aa?syn-25a6b1a6=1\" class=\"_linkEmbed_1pt7l_31\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">prevented international investors<\/a> from pouring more capital in the bloc. <\/p>\n<p>Neither figure is impartial, but they echo a 2024 report by <a href=\"https:\/\/commission.europa.eu\/topics\/competitiveness\/draghi-report_en\" class=\"_linkEmbed_1pt7l_31\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">former ECB President Mario Draghi<\/a> that called for Europe to slash legislative restrictions on business. <\/p>\n<p>Foreign direct investment into the EU <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ey.com\/en_gl\/foreign-direct-investment-surveys\/ey-europe-attractiveness-survey\" class=\"_linkEmbed_1pt7l_31\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">fell 7% in 2025<\/a>, EY analysis found, with a growing share of companies identifying overregulation as a risk to business.
