LAND O\u2019 LAKES, Wis. (WJFW) \u2014\u00a0Once in a while you or your pet may need an adjustment. For animals, finding someone to give your pet an adjustment can be a tough task.<\/p>\n
Up North Wellness Center in Land O\u2019 Lakes has been in the Northwoods for the past five years. Co-owner and chiropractor Dr. Doug Tansor has been performing chiropractic adjustments at his practice for both animals and people.<\/p>\n
Tansor’s dream was to be able to help animals in addition to people in the Northwoods.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Northwoods is more of a rural place we\u2019ve had pets come up here,\u201d Dr. Tansor said. \u201cIt\u2019s kind of hard to get into specialized services so when I finished with my certification with animals it was always a dream to move up here and bring this service to the Northwoods.\u201d<\/p>\n
In the five years that Dr. Tansor has been running his business in Land O\u2019 Lakes, he\u2019s made it part of his mission and goal to help animals that can\u2019t make it in for help.<\/p>\n
\u201cDuring the week I\u2019m actually here in the office, I take care of humans and animals,” Tansor said. “A lot of the local community will bring their animals right to me but it\u2019s not very easy to trailer in a horse or trailer in a show cow so every weekend it was kind of like, we felt like rockstars this year.”<\/p>\n

His family drives around to a different town each weekend to help animals like horses, cows and sheep get chiropractic adjustments. Since starting performing chiropractic adjustments for animals, Tansor has seen how it\u2019s helped them.<\/p>\n
He said, \u201cI mean we\u2019ve seen animals go from literally last week, we had a dog that came in as a referral from a local veterinarian office that wasn\u2019t walking at all, lost complete function of their rear end and over the course of three to four visits, went from not walking to regaining full function in their rear end.\u201d<\/p>\n
Tansor explained that for animals, performing the adjustment is different than it is for people.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey\u2019re fou- legged animals and we\u2019re two-legged so the adjustment process and the way that we deliver the adjustment is much different,” Tansor said. “But, I see animals ranging from just some low-back stiffness as they age to performance animals that are looking for an edge in competition. When it comes to barrel racing or even agility dogs, being able to weave through those poles requires a lot of spinal mobility.”<\/p>\n
Sadly, for animals in need of an adjustment there aren\u2019t a whole lot of places for them to go. Dr. Tansor said that in the Northwoods his currently the only practice that offers the service.<\/p>\n
He said, \u201cI don\u2019t think there\u2019s another animal chiropractor within maybe 100 miles that sees large and small animals.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"LAND O\u2019 LAKES, Wis.
