{"id":51792,"date":"2025-10-02T18:33:09","date_gmt":"2025-10-02T18:33:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/il\/51792\/"},"modified":"2025-10-02T18:33:09","modified_gmt":"2025-10-02T18:33:09","slug":"spacecoin-beams-blockchain-transaction-through-space-in-bid-for-decentralized-internet","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/il\/51792\/","title":{"rendered":"Spacecoin beams blockchain transaction through space in bid for decentralized internet"},"content":{"rendered":"<p id=\"speakable-summary\" class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/spacecoin.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Spacecoin<\/a> says it reached a new milestone in its quest to build a decentralized communications backbone that could one day rival SpaceX\u2019s Starlink.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The company said this week that it successfully transmitted secured data via its first demonstration satellite, validating the spacecraft\u2019s ability to execute encrypted transactions in orbit.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The blockchain transaction, beamed from Chile to Portugal, served as a proof-of-concept for moving cryptographic signatures and encrypted data through space.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cCan we send cryptographic signatures to space intact? Without it, we cannot build a decentralized network of communications satellites and fulfill the vision of building permissionless connectivity,\u201d Spacecoin founder Tae Oh <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/taelimoh\/status\/1973370839656702279\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">said in a video posted on X<\/a>. \u201cThat was the main mission of CTC-0, that we launched December 2024 with SpaceX. And today, I\u2019m glad to share that CTC-0 fulfilled its purpose.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">CTC-0, a small satellite built by Endurosat and launched on a Falcon 9 rideshare in December 2024, is the first in a line of prototypes that Spacecoin plans to launch. The next three satellites, collectively called CTC-1, will be slightly larger, followed by even bigger spacecraft to boost performance.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The test comes as Starlink continues to cement its lead in the satellite broadband space. With its vertically integrated launch business, SpaceX has put more than 8,000 satellites in orbit and has already signed on millions of global customers. A handful of competitors, including Amazon\u2019s Kuiper, are also positioning themselves against the company.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But unlike Starlink and other managed broadband networks, Spacecoin\u2019s approach is based on \u201ctokenized access\u201d and decentralization.
