{"id":52083,"date":"2025-10-02T21:42:07","date_gmt":"2025-10-02T21:42:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/il\/52083\/"},"modified":"2025-10-02T21:42:07","modified_gmt":"2025-10-02T21:42:07","slug":"inside-the-current-and-future-challenges-facing-canadas-mortgage-market","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/il\/52083\/","title":{"rendered":"Inside the current \u2013 and future \u2013 challenges facing Canada\u2019s mortgage market"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Nelly Yuzbasiyan (pictured, centre), director of regional sales at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mpamag.com\/ca\/companies\/equitable\/291652\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Equitable<\/a> Bank, also highlighted a significant gap between many Canadians\u2019 target for retirement savings and what they\u2019ve actually put away.<\/p>\n<p>That means a probable \u201chuge\u201d uptick in reverse mortgages is on the way in the years ahead, she predicted, as more Canadians tap into home equity to compensate for that savings gap.<\/p>\n<p>That trend is important for brokers, according to moderator Leah Zlatkin of Mortgage Outlet: \u201cReach out to your clients and talk to them about their parents,\u201d she advised the broker community. \u201cReach out to your contacts and talk to them about the older people in their families that are looking to retire.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf you\u2019re feeling like your book is a little slow right now, all of those mining strategies, mining for demographics and things like that, are really going to help you boost your book when we\u2019re seeing the markets a little bit slower for this time of year.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Brokers, borrowers facing familiar challenges at present<\/p>\n<p>In the current market, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mpamag.com\/ca\/mortgage-industry\/industry-trends\/canada-affordability-debate-ask-anybody-under-35-where-home-prices-need-to-go\/537015\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">stretched affordability<\/a> and higher interest rates are keeping plenty of hopeful homebuyers on the sidelines.
