Pierre Gasly will drop three places on the grid for Sunday\u2019s British Grand Prix after being handed a penalty following Qualifying.<\/p>\n
It was confirmed during the session that Gasly<\/a> would be investigated afterwards for alleged impeding in Q1, with Aston Martin<\/a>\u2019s Lance Stroll<\/a> having to run off line to avoid the Alpine<\/a> when the Canadian was on a flying lap.<\/p>\n Gasly and team representatives attended a stewards\u2019 hearing after Qualifying, where it was decided that the Frenchman had \u201cunnecessarily impeded\u201d Stroll and would serve a three-place grid drop at the next race he participates in.<\/p>\n This means that he is demoted from his original slot of P12 to P15 for Sunday\u2019s event at Silverstone.<\/p>\n In a document released after the hearing, it was explained that Stroll had been on a timed lap when he approached Gasly \u2013 on an in-lap \u2013 towards Turn 15, and that the Alpine \u201cremained on the racing line at a slow speed\u201d.<\/p>\n It goes on to state that Gasly did not have functioning radio at the time and that he \u201cexpected another driver (Kimi Antonelli<\/a>), to remain behind him rather than overtake, as he understood Antonelli not to be on a timed lap\u201d.<\/p>\n The document continues: \u201cGasly remained at a slow speed on the racing line and the evidence showed that the driver had information available to him, including the dashboard display, to appreciate Stroll was approaching on a timed lap.<\/p>\n \u201cIn those circumstances, the stewards determined that Gasly unnecessarily impeded Stroll and therefore impose the standard penalty of a three grid position drop.\u201d<\/p>\n With this pushing Gasly down to 15th, the change to the order promotes Audi<\/a>\u2019s Nico Hulkenberg<\/a> up into 12th, with Haas<\/a>\u2019 Ollie Bearman<\/a> and Williams<\/a>\u2019 Carlos Sainz<\/a> also moving to 13th and 14th.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Pierre Gasly will drop three places on the grid for Sunday\u2019s British Grand Prix after being handed a…\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":525310,"comment_status":"","ping_status":"","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[9],"tags":[85,46,105],"class_list":["post-525309","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-sports","tag-il","tag-israel","tag-sports"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/il\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/525309","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/il\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/il\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/il\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/2"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/il\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=525309"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/il\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/525309\/revisions"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/il\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/525310"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/il\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=525309"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/il\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=525309"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/il\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=525309"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
