The staff for the second television anime season<\/a>\u00a0based on Y\u016bsei Matsui<\/a>‘s The Elusive Samurai<\/a> (Nigej\u014dzu no Wakagimi<\/a>) manga unveiled on Saturday the season’s main promotional video, opening theme song, cast, staff, and July 17 premiere.<\/p>\n

The trailer announces and previews the opening theme song “Onigoto” (Demon Occurrences) by Kento Nakajima<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\nThe new season will air beginning on July 17 at 11:30 p.m. (10:30 a.m. EDT) on the Fuji TV<\/a> network, and it will also run on AT-X<\/a>. Prime Video will stream the series.<\/p>\n

Asaki Yuikawa<\/a> stars as Hojo Tokiyuki and Y\u016bichi Nakamura<\/a> as Suwa Yorishige.<\/p>\n

The cast includes:<\/p>\n

Yuta Yamazaki<\/a> (assistant director for Wonder Egg Priority<\/a>, series director for both Love Rice<\/a> series) returns to direct for season 2 at CloverWorks<\/a>, and Yasushi Nishiya<\/a> also returns (chief animation director for Pok\u00e9mon the Movie: The Power of Us<\/a>, Pok\u00e9mon the Movie: I Choose You!<\/a>) to design the characters and assume the new role of chief animation director. Shinnosuke \u014cta serves as animation director, while GEMBI<\/a> and Akiyuki Tateyama<\/a> \u00a0composes the music.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Viz Media<\/a> and MANGA Plus<\/a> both simultaneously released<\/a> new chapters of the manga in English digitally as they debuted in Japan.<\/p>\n

After the massacre of his family by the traitor Ashikaga Takauji, Tokiyuki flees with the help of a handful of loyal retainers who have also survived the purge. One of them is Suwa Yorishige, an ally of the Hojo clan and lord of Suwa Province. The slightly odd Yorishige also claims to be clairvoyant and foretells that Tokiyuki will one day become the ruler of Japan. But for the moment, escaping from enemy territory is the priority!<\/p>\n

Matsui (Majin Tantei N\u014dgami Neuro<\/a>, Assassination Classroom<\/a>) launched<\/a> the manga in Weekly Shonen Jump<\/a> in January 2021, and ended<\/a> it on February 16. The manga won<\/a> at the 69th Shogakukan<\/a> Manga Awards in 2024.<\/p>\n
