Ammaar Reshi, Lead Product and Design for Google AI Studio, used Anthropic&#8217;s Claude Code with <a href=\"https:\/\/the-decoder.com\/anthropics-fable-5-is-back-worldwide-after-a-two-week-government-ban-over-a-jailbreak\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Fable 5<\/a>. The 2003 real-time strategy game runs natively on ARM64 with no emulator. Campaign, skirmish, and &#8220;Generals Challenge&#8221; all work with touch controls. The graphics pipeline translates DirectX 8 to Apple&#8217;s Metal API through several intermediate steps.<\/p>\n<p>Reshi says the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/ammaar\/status\/2073636280781488143\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">first build took about 40 minutes<\/a>, followed by &#8220;a few hours&#8221; of debugging.\u00a0Over two days, Reshi burned through his entire Claude Max quota. When asked why he used a competitor&#8217;s product,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/ammaar\/status\/2073783007027036549\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Reshi replied<\/a> that &#8220;you can love the AI space and respect the competition while still being fully focused on building the best answer. It\u2019s a long game.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Reshi published the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/ammaarreshi\/Generals-Mac-iOS-iPad\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">full source code on GitHub<\/a>\u00a0as open source. Game assets aren&#8217;t included, so you need your own copy, available on\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/store.steampowered.com\/app\/2732960\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Steam<\/a>\u00a0for about $5, if you want to try it out. On iPads, the game can crash during long sessions because of high memory usage.
