Cacchione ranked as the highest-paid CEO at the Philadelphia region\u2019s nonprofit health systems in 2024, with total compensation of $7 million, according to The Inquirer\u2019s annual review of public tax forms. <\/p>\n<p class=\"inq-p text-primary  \">Madeline Bell at Children\u2019s Hospital of Philadelphia collected $5.5 million in 2024, giving her the number two spot.<\/p>\n<p class=\"inq-p text-primary  \">Both also were top earners in The Inquirer\u2019s <a class=\"relative z-1 text-blue-mid hover:shadow-lightmode\" data-link-type=\"article-body\" href=\"https:\/\/www.inquirer.com\/health\/nonprofit-health-system-ceo-salary-pennsylvania-2023-20250804.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.inquirer.com\/health\/nonprofit-health-system-ceo-salary-pennsylvania-2023-20250804.html\">2023 compensation analysis<\/a>. Jefferson is the largest system based here, both by revenue and number of hospitals, with 33 stretching from South Jersey to near Scranton. CHOP is among the nation\u2019s top-ranked children\u2019s hospitals.<\/p>\n<p class=\"inq-p text-primary  \"><a class=\"relative z-1 text-blue-mid hover:shadow-lightmode\" data-link-type=\"article-body\" href=\"https:\/\/www.inquirer.com\/health\/christianacare-janice-nevin-reitire-jenn-schwartz-new-ceo-20260414.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.inquirer.com\/health\/christianacare-janice-nevin-reitire-jenn-schwartz-new-ceo-20260414.html\">Janice Nevin<\/a> at ChristianaCare joined the ranks of the top five. She received $3.5 million, about the same pay as the region\u2019s fourth highest earner, Al Maghezehe at Capital Health, which has a network of outpatient clinics in <a class=\"relative z-1 text-blue-mid hover:shadow-lightmode\" data-link-type=\"article-body\" href=\"https:\/\/www.inquirer.com\/topic\/bucks-county\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Bucks County<\/a> and two hospitals in Mercer County. Maghezehe\u2019s compensation stands out because Capital had by far the lowest revenue among the systems with the 10 highest-paid CEOs.<\/p>\n<p class=\"inq-p text-primary  \">A couple of CEOs who left their positions before 2024 continued collecting long-term compensation, as is common in the industry. <\/p>\n<p class=\"inq-p text-primary  \">Most notably, Jefferson\u2019s former CEO Stephen K. Klasko collected just over $1 million in 2024. He retired at the end of 2021, but remained an adviser through June 2022. The 2024 payment brought <a class=\"relative z-1 text-blue-mid hover:shadow-lightmode\" data-link-type=\"article-body\" href=\"https:\/\/www.inquirer.com\/health\/jefferson-ceo-stephen-klasko-pay-20240729.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.inquirer.com\/health\/jefferson-ceo-stephen-klasko-pay-20240729.html\">his total through 2024 <\/a><a class=\"relative z-1 text-blue-mid hover:shadow-lightmode\" data-link-type=\"article-body\" href=\"https:\/\/www.inquirer.com\/health\/jefferson-ceo-stephen-klasko-pay-20240729.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.inquirer.com\/health\/jefferson-ceo-stephen-klasko-pay-20240729.html\">to $48.7 million<\/a> <a class=\"relative z-1 text-blue-mid hover:shadow-lightmode\" data-link-type=\"article-body\" href=\"https:\/\/www.inquirer.com\/health\/jefferson-ceo-stephen-klasko-pay-20240729.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.inquirer.com\/health\/jefferson-ceo-stephen-klasko-pay-20240729.html\">for 8\u00bd years as CEO<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"inq-p text-primary  \">Lori Herndon left AtlantiCare in June 2023. Her compensation the following year was $1.3 million. <\/p>\n<p class=\"inq-p text-primary  \">Other CEOs left during 2024, making it possible they will be listed in the next round of 990s. Those executives include <a class=\"relative z-1 text-blue-mid hover:shadow-lightmode\" data-link-type=\"article-body\" href=\"https:\/\/www.inquirer.com\/health\/st-christophers-ceo-resignation-20240214.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.inquirer.com\/health\/st-christophers-ceo-resignation-20240214.html\">Donald Mueller at St. Christopher\u2019s Hospital for Children<\/a>, <a class=\"relative z-1 text-blue-mid hover:shadow-lightmode\" data-link-type=\"article-body\" href=\"https:\/\/www.inquirer.com\/health\/redeemer-health-new-ceo-gregory-wozniak-laign-retiring-20240617.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.inquirer.com\/health\/redeemer-health-new-ceo-gregory-wozniak-laign-retiring-20240617.html\">Michael Laign at Redeemer Health<\/a>, and Ronald W.
