The Architectural League of New York<\/a> has announced the opening of the 2026 cycle of Independent Projects. The competitive grant<\/a> program, offered alongside the New York State Council on the Arts (NYSCA), supports practitioners working in the design fields.<\/p>\n

Independent Projects provides grants of $10,000 to New York State-based individuals and teams to explore topics or issues in design fields, including architecture, landscape architecture, historic preservation, community-centered design, fashion, graphic, industrial, and interior design.<\/p>\n

The 2026 cycle will support 25 proposals that contribute to a broader understanding of design, with an emphasis on artistry, design excellence, and public impact. Applicants should consider how their work may answer the question: Where can design go next?<\/p>\n

The Architectural League of New York will serve to publicize program guidelines, receive all applications, confirm eligibility, convene a review panel to select recipients, and disburse grant funds. Individuals located anywhere in New York State, working in any of the aforementioned design disciplines are eligible to apply.<\/p>\n

Applicants for Independent Projects are now being accepted, with a final submission deadline of July 22, 2026. More information about the program guidelines and application instructions can be found here<\/a>.<\/p>\n
