Who can forget when a throwaway comment Arshad Warsi<\/a> made on Prabhas\u2019 role in Nag Ashwin\u2019s Kalki 2898 AD turned into a controversy in 2024? Two years later, the Bollywood actor says that he \u2018only jokes\u2019 with his friends now, after getting brutally trolled by Prabhas<\/a>\u2019 fans. He did, however, also add that \u2018people need to lighten up\u2019 while talking about it.<\/p>\n

In an interview with News18, Arshad <\/a>says he\u2019s a \u2018big believer in self-censorship\u2019 now, post-controversy. He also said, \u201cI only joke with my friends. To be honest, I don\u2019t joke with anybody else. If I\u2019ve to crack a joke, I do it with the people I\u2019m familiar with and those who are my friends because I know what to say and how much I can say. If I don\u2019t know someone, I won\u2019t say anything in front of them because I won\u2019t have an idea about them. It\u2019s as simple as that.\u201d<\/p>\n

The actor was also quick to add that people should learn to take jokes, stating that \u2018we all need to lighten up\u2019. However, there are some things that are not his cup of tea. \u201cYou have to practise it. I, personally, am not a big fan of Pakistani humour, purely because it\u2019s derogatory. Pakistani humour is a bit insulting all the time \u2013 calling names and all that. A lot of people like it but I personally don\u2019t. I\u2019m not a big fan of sexual comedies either and that\u2019s my choice. People do like it. Each one has their choice but that\u2019s the censorship I practice,\u201d said Arshad.<\/p>\n

What is the \u2018joker\u2019 controversy about?<\/p>\n

In 2024, while talking to Samdish Bhatia, Arshad spoke about Kalki 2898 AD<\/a> and said, \u201cPrabhas, I am really sad, why was he\u2026 he was like a joker. Why? I want to see a Mad Max. I want to see Mel Gibson over there. Tumne usko kya bana dia yaar. Kyu karte ho aisa mujhe nahi samajh mein aata (What have you made of it? Why do they do such things I never understand).\u201d<\/p>\n

Arshad was trolled brutally by Prabhas fans after this, and even Telugu actor Nani slammed him while promoting Saripodhaa Sanivaaram and said, \u201cThe person that you\u2019re referring to, this must be the most publicity he has got in his life. You are unnecessarily glorifying an unimportant matter.\u201d He later expressed regret to Mid-Day about saying this, stating that his reaction was \u2018blown out of proportion\u2019.<\/p>\n

When the controversy broke, Nag wrote on X (formerly Twitter), \u201cArshad saab (sir) should have chosen his words better\u2026 but it’s ok\u2026 sending Buji toys for his kids\u2026 I will work hard so tweets\u2026 that Prabhas was the best ever in K2 (flexed biceps emoji),\u201d while responding to a fan.<\/p>\n

Arshad will soon star in Dhamaal 4, Golmaal 5 and King<\/a>. He was most recently seen in Welcome to the Jungle.
