Set in a distant future following a nuclear catastrophe, the upcoming action<\/a> sci-fi thriller in question is Warriors of the Wasteland. The West Balkans have become a lawless wasteland<\/a> where the most valuable currency is the bullet. A mysterious blind fiddler wanders the ruins, singing the legend of the “Grain People”\u2014 a peaceful community of wheat-growers who refuse to submit to a distant city\u2019s tyranny. <\/p>\n

But when a young warrior\u2019s family is slaughtered by a deranged warlord, peace comes to an abrupt end as he embarks on a bloody quest for vengeance<\/a>. Armed only with a blade and a motorcycle, he must navigate radioactive cults and hallucinations to protect the last remnants of civilization. <\/p>\n

Directed by Nemanja \u0106erani\u0107 (Loan Shark), Warriors of the Wasteland stars Igor Ben\u010dina (Sword of Vengeance), Isidora Simijonovi\u0107 (A Good Wife), Sergej Trifunovi\u0107 (The Border Post), Marta Bjelica (Offenders), and Jovo Maksi\u0107 (Father). Picked up for distribution by Well Go USA, with the Oscar-nominated theatrical and home entertainment label continuing to specialize in bringing the best in action, genre, and independent films from the U.S. and around the world to North America, the new trailer for Warriors of the Wasteland offers our first look at this new apocalyptic survivor<\/a> with a penchant for slashing his way through the new world. <\/p>\n

While we await a long-awaited Mad Max sequel that may never come (though the latest update reveals that George Miller is still fighting to make it happen<\/a>), Warriors of the Wasteland certainly looks like the perfect replacement to the $540 million franchise. The trailer reveals not only a cast of colorful characters similar to those seen on the fury road, but it also injects a hefty dose of slick swordplay that gives this new post-apocalyptic hero an air of modern action icon John Wick<\/a>. Mad Max meets John Wick…say less. <\/p>\n

Warriors of the Wasteland is now available at home via digital streaming (as of July 7) and is due to be released on Blu-ray\u2122 and DVD exclusively through Amazon\u00ae on September 8. <\/p>\n
