But if you would rather keep your media to yourself, here is what to change.<\/p>\n<p>Step 1: Adjust your Search Services History (and stop saving media)Go to\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/myactivity.google.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">myactivity.google.com<\/a>\u00a0on your phone or computer.<br \/>\u00a0Tap\u00a0Search Services History.<\/p>\n<p>Here you have two main options:<\/p>\n<p>Turn the whole thing off: This stops Google from saving any future interactions with Search services as history. (If you choose this, you can also opt to delete existing activity.)<\/p>\n<p>Keep history on, but stop saving media: If you like the convenience of saved searches for recommendations, simply uncheck the\u00a0Save Media\u00a0box. This leaves your text\u2011based history alone but stops Google from hanging onto your Lens images, voice recordings, and other media.<\/p>\n<p>While you\u2019re there, you can also set your activity to auto\u2011delete after 3, 18, or 36 months instead of staying forever.Step 2: Turn off personalised recommendations (optional)<\/p>\n<p>A separate setting called\u00a0Personalized Recommendations\u00a0uses your saved activity to tailor results and ads. If you want to switch that off:<\/p>\n<p>These tweaks do not affect your ability to search, navigate, or translate.
