Jorge Jesus has been appointed Portugal head coach following the exit of Roberto Martinez.<\/p>\n
Martinez, who had been Portugal coach since the start of 2023, departed the role following the national side\u2019s World Cup last-16 exit to Spain on Monday.<\/p>\n
The managerial career of 71-year-old Jesus has spanned 36 years and has included two spells at Benfica alongside stints at Sporting CP, Flamengo and Fenerbahce, before each of the last three seasons being spent in the Saudi Pro League.<\/p>\n
Ahead of joining Al Nassr last summer, where he coached Cristiano Ronaldo, Jesus said he \u201ccould not refuse the invitation\u201d of the Portuguese legend<\/a> to coach the club.<\/p>\n Come\u00e7a hoje um novo caminho. Portugal will co-host the next tournament, in 2030, alongside Spain and Morocco, with Uruguay, Argentina and Paraguay also each hosting matches at the start of those finals.<\/p>\n
