You have to feel a little bad for the organizers and fans at Shanghai\u2019s Bilibili World expo, an absolutely massive fan convention that, nevertheless, doesn\u2019t have quite the same impact on Hollywood as some of our homegrown cons. Sure, the event (which reportedly sports an absolutely ridiculous\/humanity-crushing 400,000 annual attendees) flew out a big name like Marvel head honcho Kevin Feige to talk up his upcoming slate of movies at its currently running 2026 incarnation. But everybody knows that Feige isn\u2019t going to roll out the really\u00a0good stuff in Shanghai\u2014not with San Diego Comic-Con just two weeks away.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Nevertheless, Feige did drop some breadcrumbs<\/a> for Marvel info hounds while speaking at the event, touching on fan-favorite characters like Florence Pugh\u2019s Yelena Belova and the X-Men<\/a>. He also rolled out a big piece of concept art for this December\u2019s Avengers: Doomsday\u00a0that we\u00a0think\u00a0was meant to focus on the reveal of Doctor Doom\u2019s mask, but which mostly distracted us with its reminder of how goofy Channing Tatum looks in his lil\u2019 Gambit outfit. (Also, a much more prominent Ant-Man placement than we were necessarily expecting, given that Paul Rudd hasn\u2019t done a non-voice acting or \u201cvideo meant to be played in theme parks\u201d Marvel role since Quantumania\u00a0back in 2023.) As for major franchise stars, those guys popped up in a video<\/a> from the film\u2019s set, as Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, and Robert Downey Jr. assembled in a dark void to give a hearty \u201cWe love China!\u201d to attendees, because Marvel would really like this movie to make the kind of \u201cinternational box office records shattered\u201d money you only make these days if Chinese audiences hop on board.<\/p>\n Elsewhere in the conversation, Feige did reveal a few things, including confirming a timeline of when the MCU will be getting a full-fledged\u00a0X-Men movie, noting that it\u2019ll arrive after\u00a0Avengers: Secret Wars, currently aimed at December 2027. (Also, Feige seemed to confirm rumors that the film, subtitled\u00a0Children Of The Atom, would focus largely on the franchise\u2019s female characters.) In the more recent future, Feige talked up Pugh\u2019s Yelena, stating that while the character plays \u201ca big part\u201d in Doomsday, \u201cif you don\u2019t want to wait until then, you might see Yelena a little bit sooner in the movies\u201d\u2014which, given the current state of Marvel\u2019s schedule, can pretty much only be a reference to this month\u2019s\u00a0Spider-Man: Brand New Day<\/a>, a casting that hasn\u2019t even been hinted at in the film\u2019s marketing.\u00a0<\/p>\n So, yeah: Never let it be said Kevin Feige doesn\u2019t have\u00a0anything\u00a0for the Chinese audience Marvel is feverishly courting. Just not, y\u2019know, an actual trailer.
