On a normal day, Sorry Baby writer, director, and star Eva Victor<\/a> is liable to wear any of the following items: \u201cBig shirt, big pants, sometimes shorts, tank tops, jeans, sweaters, trousers, button downs, Converse, Uggs, loafers,\u201d they say. The brief? \u201cSometimes \u2018kid wearing dad\u2019s clothes\u2019 and sometimes \u2018English professor who lets their students use their first name.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

For Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez<\/a>\u2019s inaugural Loewe show<\/a> in Paris today, Victor and their stylist, Danielle Goldberg, leaned into the cool English professor look: a custom blue layered button-down with black straight-legged trousers that revealed the rounded toe of a black pump. \u201cI LOVE these layered button downs\u2014they are so comfortable and airy and effortlessly chic, and Britt Lower<\/a> was wearing one in green today that I now need for myself,\u201d she says. \u201cThis look makes me feel like there\u2019s always a summer breeze brushing past me.\u201d<\/p>\n

It should come as no surprise that Victor\u2014who also played a doctoral student, and later professor, in Sorry Baby\u2014brought that cerebral approach to the show. \u201cThe amazing thing about preparing for a fashion show is you\u2019re getting ready to honor this burst of work\u2014it is so climactic, it is ten minutes of pure energy and inspiration and beauty\u2014it feels like a moving museum or something,\u201d she says. \u201cHere, I get to simply receive the work. It\u2019s such an honor to be in the first group of people seeing artistic expression live like this.\u201d<\/p>\n

When it came to the runway itself, Victor left not with standout looks in mind, but an overall feeling. \u201cIt felt more like bursts of texture and color and energy, and like I was left with a feeling of brightness and youth and summer and strength,\u201d they say. Still, that isn\u2019t stopping them from building out their wishlist. \u201cI loved the structured leather jackets, especially when they were styled with nothing underneath, the sweaters tied into shirts, the big butter-colored fringed jacket, the clear pumps with bright socks inside. There were these bright striped long dresses that I will be begging to try on\u2026so many explosive, celebratory moments, I can\u2019t choose one.\u201d<\/p>\n
