\u201cDaily Show<\/a>\u201d host Jon Stewart<\/a> on Monday slammed President Donald Trump<\/a> for abandoning \u201creality\u201d in his plan to deploy federal troops<\/a> to \u201cwar ravaged\u201d Portland, Oregon<\/a>, the site of protests against his\u00a0immigration crackdown<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Trump,\u00a0in an interview with NBC News<\/a>, suggested that his aides told him that people are \u201cliterally attacking\u201d each other and there are \u201cfires all over the place\u201d in Portland.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd dragons! There be dragons!\u201d added Stewart.<\/p>\n

Moments earlier, the comedian knocked Trump for focusing on the city amid an \u201corgy of mass shootings<\/a>\u201d over the weekend.<\/p>\n

He turned to Trump\u2019s \u201ctelling\u201d response to Oregon Gov. Tina Kotek, who tried to explain to the president over the phone that Portland wasn\u2019t in a \u201cstate of war.\u201d<\/p>\n

Trump then reportedly said on the call, \u201cI said, \u2018Well, wait a minute, am I watching things on television that are different from what\u2019s happening?\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

Stewart scolded the president for acting \u201crashly\u201d instead of trying to determine what the reality was on the ground in Portland.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe goes, \u2018Code Red, Red Team Go!\u2019 because he sees it on fucking TV and acts impulsively. He sends out the National Guard the same way you or I might make a late night ShamWow! purchase,\u201d he joked alongside a screengrab from the iconic 2000s infomercial<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Stewart proceeded to lean in and whisper toward the camera, \u201cIn reality, it\u2019s just a fucking rag, but at three in the morning \u2014 it\u2019s magic!\u201d<\/p>\n
