\n\tDon\u2019t mess with Olivia Cooke<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe House of the Dragon<\/a> star recalls a time she slapped a co-star on the HBO drama so hard she made him cry. <\/p>\n

\n\tThe 31-year-old actress<\/a> \u2014 who\u2019s currently promoting her Prime Video thriller The Girlfriend \u2014 told British newspaper The i Paper <\/a>about a Dragon scene she worked on with Tom Glynn-Carney. In the show, Cooke plays the regal Alicent Hightower and Glynn-Carney is her sniveling son, King Aegon Targaryen.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe scene called for Alicent to slap Aegon and Glynn-Carney encouraged the actress do \u201cdo it for real.\u201d After consulting with the stunt coordinator, who gave her permission, Cooke whacked him \u2013 hard.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI\u00a0walloped\u00a0him!\u201d she recalled \u201cI don\u2019t know my own strength! It was a slap that resonated across the land! It made him cry! I mean,\u00a0that\u00a0was the reaction that he\u2019d wanted for the cameras. But I felt awful. It was hideous. I\u2019ve always felt sick and wanted to cry after doing any stunt work like that.\u201d <\/p>\n

\n\tFar more seriously, Cooke also says that as much as Hollywood has progressed when it comes to shooting sex scenes in movies and TV shows, women are often still put into difficult positions on set.<\/p>\n

\n\tCooke said actors are put into \u201creally precarious and vulnerable situations\u201d which are even worse for actors who are \u201cjust starting out and don\u2019t have the vocabulary to say what they\u2019re not comfortable with\u201d and noted \u201cwomen [will] often get labelled \u2018difficult\u2019 or \u2018a bitch\u2019 for speaking up\u201d about their concerns. <\/p>\n

\n\tCooke added that intimacy coordinators \u2014 which first widely introduced into the TV industry on HBO\u2019s Game of Thrones \u2014 will \u201csense hesitation and become your voice\u201d and advocate for the actor.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cShowing intimacy, passion is an integral part of reflecting the human experience,\u201d Cooke added, but that it should be accomplished on screen without feeling like \u201ca chunk of yourself has been taken.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe third season of House of the Dragon is expected sometime next year, likely around the summer. Meanwhile, Cooke can be seen in The Girlfriend, a six-episode psychological thriller that stars Robin Wright as a mother whose life begins to unravel when her son (Laurie Davidson) brings home a manipulative new girlfriend (Cooke).
