CHICO, Calif. \u2014 Chico State University is recruiting participants for a research study examining the effects of night shift work on cardiovascular and muscle health.<\/p>\n

Researchers are seeking adults aged 18 to 50 who are apparently healthy and currently work night shifts.<\/p>\n

To qualify, participants must work at least three hours between 11 p.m. and 6 a.m. on at least two days each week.<\/p>\n

Participants also must have no history of cardiac or metabolic disease, not smoke or use beta-blockers, and weigh more than 110 pounds.<\/p>\n

The study includes blood draws; questionnaires about participants’ health, physical activity, exercise history and sleep; and maximal cycle exercise testing.<\/p>\n

Participation is voluntary. Researchers said potential risks are low and include fatigue, discomfort and bruising.<\/p>\n
