Phil Collins<\/a> is celebrating the 45th anniversary of his 1981 debut solo album\u00a0Face Value with a new box set titled Face Value (Full Value)<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Arriving on September 18th, the 4xLP deluxe vinyl box set includes\u00a0the original Face Value album half-speed remastered at Abbey Road, plus rare and unreleased live recordings, demos and outtakes. The set also features a brand new interview with Collins in the liner notes conducted by journalist Tom Doyle.<\/p>\n

As for the rarities and unreleased live recordings included in the box set, Collins has added stripped-back debut live performances of \u201cIn the Air Tonight\u201d and \u201cThe Roof Is Leaking\u201d from The Secret Policeman\u2019s Other Ball, featuring himself and guitarist Daryl Stuermer. Fans will also get two previously unreleased live performances from Perkins Palace in 1982 and Irvine Meadows in 1985, an unreleased outtake of his experimental cover of The Beatles\u2019 \u201cTomorrow Never Knows,\u201d and a previously unreleased full version of \u201cOver The Rainbow,\u201d which was only featured as an excerpt at the end of the original album. To celebrate the announcement, Collins has unearthed \u201cYou Know What I Mean\u201d (Live, Perkins Palace 1982) as the first offering from\u00a0Face Value (Full Value).\u00a0Stream it below.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Collins has readied a\u00a0Blu-ray edition of Face Value with remastered audio, also out on September 18th. The Blu-ray release features brand new Dolby Atmos, 5.1 and stereo mixes of the album by Steven Wilson, with the Atmos also available digitally. Pre-orders for the vinyl box set<\/a> and the Blu-ray edition<\/a> are ongoing.<\/p>\n

Face Value served as Phil Collins debut solo album back in 1981, released during a prolific period with his band Genesis. The opening track on the album is \u201cIn the Air Tonight,\u201d now considered Collins\u2019 signature song;\u00a0Face Value\u00a0also features the hit \u201cI Missed Again\u201d as well as a re-recording of Genesis\u2019 1980 track \u201cBehind the Lines.\u201d Collins previously celebrated the album\u2019s 35th anniversary with a deluxe version in 2016 \u2014 titled\u00a0Extra Values \u2014 containing more demos, rarities, and live recordings.<\/p>\n

Collins is set to be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame<\/a> for the second time in November (he was previously inducted with Genesis), though he won\u2019t be performing<\/a> at the ceremony as he continues to recover from a variety of health issues<\/a>.<\/p>\n
