\n\tRIYADH:\u00a0Egypt\u2019s Suez Canal Economic Zone <\/a>generated a record\u00a015.9 billion Egyptian pounds ($314 million)\u00a0in revenue during fiscal year 2025\/26, up\u00a037 percent\u00a0from a year earlier and\u00a051 percent\u00a0above budget.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\tDollar-denominated revenue rose 44 percent year on year to\u00a0$246 million, accounting for\u00a076 percent\u00a0of total revenue, while income generated in local currency increased 21 percent to\u00a03.8 billion pounds, representing the remaining 24 percent, the General Authority for the Suez Canal Economic Zone said in a statement.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\tThe record performance comes as\u00a0the\u00a0SCZone\u00a0continues to\u00a0strengthen its position\u00a0as a regional industrial and\u00a0logistics\u00a0hub under Egypt\u2019<\/a>s broader economic development strategy.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\tIn an official post on Facebook<\/a>, the authority said:\u00a0\u201cThe fiscal year 2025\/2026 witnessed a significant shift in the authority\u2019s revenue structure, with the contribution of other activities and industrial zones, excluding ports, rising to 19 percent of total revenues, compared to a previous average of 8 percent.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\tIt added: \u201cThis increase was driven by a growth rate exceeding that of port revenues, which accounted for 81 percent of total revenues, down from 92 percent previously. This reflects the success of the authority\u2019s efforts to diversify its revenue streams.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\tA decade of growth\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\tThe figures were announced during the first meeting of the\u00a0SCZone<\/a>\u2019s\u00a0board of directors for the\u00a02026\/27 fiscal year. During the meeting, the board reviewed the authority\u2019s development since its establishment, noting that annual revenue\u00a0had increased\u00a0from\u00a02.8 billion pounds\u00a0in\u00a0FY2016\/17\u00a0to\u00a015.9 billion pounds\u00a0in\u00a0FY2025\/26, reflecting\u00a0a sustained growth trajectory.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\tIn May, Chairman Walid Gamal El-Din said the authority had attracted around $16 billion in investments over the previous three years and nine months, including $7.1 billion during the current fiscal year, supported by expanding industrial zones, port infrastructure and\u00a0logistics\u00a0services.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\tGamal El-Din added at the time that the authority expects revenue and budget surplus to grow by more than 30 percent during the current fiscal year, driven by new factories entering operation, increased port activity, and continued investment in priority sectors including renewable energy, pharmaceuticals, chemicals, metals, and electric vehicles.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\tOver the past decade, the authority has increased its annual revenue\u00a0nearly sixfold. Cargo handled across its ports, including both containerized and non-containerized shipments, also more than doubled, rising from 51.2 million tonnes in fiscal year 2016\/17 to 108.7 million tonnes in 2025\/26, an increase of more than 112 percent.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cThis growth is a result of port development efforts, including the expansion of berths and terminals, and attracting major international port operators,\u201d the authority\u00a0stated.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\tIt added: \u201cThese factors have contributed to increased handling capacity and improved operational efficiency. Furthermore, the authority has successfully attracted diverse investments to its industrial zones, reinforcing its role as a regional hub for industry and\u00a0logistics.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\tInvestment pipeline expands\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\tDuring the meeting, Gamal El-Din reviewed the authority\u2019s promotional efforts during the 2025\/2026 fiscal year. The authority attracted 117 new projects contracted in industrial zones, with investments\u00a0totaling\u00a0$7.26 billion.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\tOnce completed, the projects are expected to create\u00a0approximately 73,500 direct jobs across a total area of\u00a08.7 million sq. meters.\u00a0<\/p>\n
