{"id":550374,"date":"2026-07-20T10:33:19","date_gmt":"2026-07-20T10:33:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/il\/550374\/"},"modified":"2026-07-20T10:33:19","modified_gmt":"2026-07-20T10:33:19","slug":"aston-villa-sign-joao-gomes-in-38m-deal-from-wolves","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/il\/550374\/","title":{"rendered":"Aston Villa sign Joao Gomes in \u00a338m deal from Wolves"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/sport\/football\/teams\/aston-villa\" class=\"ssrcss-18834jl-InlineLink e1kn3p7n0\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Aston Villa<\/a> have completed the \u00a338m signing of midfielder Joao Gomes from Wolves.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">The Brazil international joins for an initial \u00a334m with \u00a34m in add-ons.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Villa completed a club record deal worth <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/sport\/football\/articles\/c5yzyg028gxo\" class=\"ssrcss-18834jl-InlineLink e1kn3p7n0\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">more than \u00a350m<\/a> for Freiburg midfielder Johan Manzambi on Friday after beating <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/sport\/football\/teams\/newcastle-united\" class=\"ssrcss-18834jl-InlineLink e1kn3p7n0\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Newcastle<\/a> to the Switzerland international. <\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Atletico Madrid had also been keen on Gomes but the 25-year-old left Wolves&#8217; training camp in Portugal on Thursday to have a medical and finalise his move to Villa Park.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Villa midfielder Amadou Onana is out until next year after suffering a serious knee injury with Belgium at the World Cup, while fellow midfielder Morgan Rogers is set to leave after Villa <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/sport\/football\/articles\/c0ej1jyy8yyo\" class=\"ssrcss-18834jl-InlineLink e1kn3p7n0\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">agreed a \u00a3117m deal with Chelsea.<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Gomes made 41 appearances for Wolves last season as they finished bottom of the Premier League.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">He played 130 times for the club, scoring seven goals, after joining from Flamengo in 2023.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Aston Villa have completed the \u00a338m signing of midfielder Joao Gomes from Wolves.
