The first full trailer for Avengers: Doomsday<\/a> has been released online offering a look at Marvel\u2019s big-budget big hope.<\/p>\n

\u201cSomething\u2019s coming, something we may not be able to deter,\u201d is the first line heard in the new preview which proceeds to bring back multiple characters from various Marvel<\/a> movies and universes.<\/p>\n

Returning Avengers featured in the trailer include Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Paul Rudd as Ant-Man and Chris Evans as Captain America while Fantastic Four\u2019s Pedro Pascal, X-Men\u2019s Patrick Stewart, Black Panther\u2019s Letitia Wright and Thunderbolts\u2019 Florence Pugh also appear.<\/p>\n

There\u2019s also a glimpse of Ian McKellen, returning as Magneto, who recently<\/a> spoke about the film at the Piazza festival in Rome. The actor told the audience that \u201cthey got me at one point to destroy New Jersey\u201d. He added that directing duo the Russo brothers \u201ctold me to look more furious: make it look as if you hate what you\u2019re destroying. So I stood there and I shouted: \u2018Mar-a-Lago!\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

The trailer teases an \u201cunthinkable decision\u201d as well as the arrival of Robert Downey Jr\u2019s Doctor Doom. The actor, who previously played Iron Man, is returning to play the famed villain in a move that is reportedly<\/a> earning the actor an estimated $100m for both Doomsday and its follow-up Secret Wars.<\/p>\n

Returning co-director Joe Russo has said<\/a> they are \u201cback to phase zero\u201d of the MCU with the new film. \u201cThis is starting over from scratch,\u201d he said. \u201cWe want to make sure everybody feels like this isn\u2019t leaning on anything from the past.\u201d<\/p>\n

The film arrives at a difficult time for Marvel, once box office champions but now struggling to return to former glories. The last few years have seen adventures such as Thunderbolts, Fantastic Four: First Steps and Captain America: Brave New World achieving mediocre results.<\/p>\n

But in 2019, Avengers: Endgame became one of the highest-grossing films of all time with a box office total of almost $2.8bn.<\/p>\n

The Guardian\u2019s Ben Child recently<\/a> wrote: \u201cthe success or failure of this next superhero extravaganza might well decide the future of the entire franchise.\u201d<\/p>\n
