{"id":550794,"date":"2026-07-20T16:08:13","date_gmt":"2026-07-20T16:08:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/il\/550794\/"},"modified":"2026-07-20T16:08:13","modified_gmt":"2026-07-20T16:08:13","slug":"islamic-regime-wrote-to-universities-on-how-to-suppress-2023-student-protests","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/il\/550794\/","title":{"rendered":"Islamic Regime wrote to universities on how to suppress 2023 student protests"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Iran\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jpost.com\/middle-east\/article-891581\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Science, Research, and Technology Ministry<\/a> sent orders to the country\u2019s academic institutions on how to suppress the September 2023 protests, according to the Amirkabir NewsLetter, a student-run media outlet.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">In a letter addressed to the heads of universities, higher education institutes, and research institutes across Iran, the ministry demanded that protests be met with a harsh response, the report said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">\u201cRioting must come with a cost, and a passive stance will embolden the rioters,\u201d wrote Ebrahim Hosseini, who at the time was director-general of the Office for Coordinating Administrative Misconduct Committees for Employees and Faculty Members.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">\u201cDistinguished university presidents can also have a preventive aspect,\u201d Hosseini wrote. \u201cExplaining the results and effects of these measures in making educational and research environments healthy will play a significant role in strengthening and influencing the concept and position of the rule of law in the process of investigating violations.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">\u201cTherefore, it is hoped that the preparation of the requested report and its submission will be put on the agenda as a matter of urgency.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">The protests broke out on the anniversary of the regime\u2019s murder of Mahsa Amini, 22. She was killed by the regime\u2019s security forces for not wearing her head covering properly.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">Amjad Amini, her father, was briefly arrested on the anniversary of her death.
