The official YouTube<\/a> channel for the live-action film<\/a> based on Muneyuki Kaneshiro<\/a> and Y\u016bsuke Nomura<\/a>‘s BLUE LOCK<\/a> soccer manga streamed footage of the entrance exam in a new video on Wednesday. The video features the insert song<\/a> “twilight” by Fukase<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Y\u016bsuke Taki<\/a> is directing the film, and Tetsuo Kamata<\/a> is writing the screenplay. Shinz\u014d Matsuhashi<\/a> is serving as a producer. CREDEUS<\/a> (live-action Golden Kamuy<\/a> film) is producing the film, and TOHO<\/a> is distributing.<\/p>\n

Kaneshiro and Nomura launched<\/a> the manga in Kodansha<\/a>‘s Weekly Sh\u014dnen Magazine<\/a> in August 2018. Kodansha published the manga’s 39th compiled book volume on June 17. The manga won<\/a> the Best Sh\u014dnen Manga award in Kodansha’s 45th annual Manga Awards in 2021. Kodansha USA Publishing<\/a> is releasing<\/a> the manga in English digitally and is also releasing<\/a> it in print.<\/p>\n

The original manga inspired a television anime series that premiered in Japan in October 2022 on TV Asahi<\/a> and its affiliates in the NUMAnimation programming block. The anime ran for 24 episodes. Crunchyroll<\/a> streamed<\/a> the series as it aired, and is also streaming<\/a> an English dub<\/a>.<\/p>\n

BLUE LOCK vs. U-20 JAPAN<\/a>, the second television anime<\/a> season, debuted in October 2024, and aired for 14 episodes. Crunchyroll streamed<\/a> the anime as it aired in North America, Central America, South America, Europe, Africa, Oceania, the Middle East, and CIS.<\/p>\n

The anime is getting a third season, adapting the “Shin Eiy\u016b Taisen” (New Hero Wars) story.<\/p>\n

K\u014dta Sannomiya<\/a>‘s BLUELOCK -Episode Nagi- manga<\/a> spinoff focuses on Seishir\u014d Nagi before he enters the titular BLUE LOCK facility. The manga launched in June 2022 in Kodansha’s Bessatsu Sh\u014dnen Magazine<\/a> and ended<\/a> in July 2025. Kodansha USA Publishing is releasing<\/a> the spinoff manga in print.<\/p>\n

The spinoff inspired an anime film<\/a> that premiered<\/a> in Japan in April 2024. The film sold<\/a> 337,000 tickets to earn 463 million yen (about US$2.99 million) in its first three days, and ranked at #2 in the Japanese box office in its opening weekend. The film opened<\/a> in North America in June 2024. Crunchyroll is streaming<\/a> the film with subtitles and with several dubs.<\/p>\n
