\n\t\u201cSnoop<\/a>,\u201d an R-rated movie about the life of Snoop Dogg, is hitting theaters next summer.<\/p>\n

\n\tUniversal Pictures slated the film for release on Aug. 6, 2027. It\u2019s currently set to open alongside Disney\u2019s \u201cThe Bluey Movie\u201d and Black Bear\u2019s \u201cJason Statham Stole My Bike.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cOuter Banks\u201d star Jonathan Daviss is playing the titular role in \u201cSnoop,\u201d described by Universal as the \u201cdefinitive biopic of the artist,\u00a0mogul\u00a0and icon of gangsta rap.\u201d Craig Brewer, best known for \u201cSong Sung Blue\u201d and\u00a0\u201cHustle & Flow,\u201d is directing the movie, which will incorporate music from the singer\u2019s vast catalogue. Some of Snoop\u2019s biggest hits include \u201cDrop it Like It\u2019s Hot,\u201d \u201cGin and Juice,\u201d \u201cWhat\u2019s My Name\u201d and \u201cNuthin\u2019 but a \u2018G\u2019 Thang.\u201d <\/p>\n

\n\tPlot details haven\u2019t been confirmed, so it\u2019s unclear if the movie will take a wide-ranging look at Snoop\u2019s career (\u00e0 la \u201cMichael\u201d and \u201cBohemian Rhapsody\u201d) or focus on one chapter (in the vein of \u201cSpringsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere.\u201d) A multi-hyphenate \u2014 emphasis on the multi \u2014 Snoop has maintained his notoriety across decades as a rapper, singer, songwriter, actor, producer, DJ, media personality and entrepreneur (including tech and entertainment investments, and lifestyle, food and beverage and cannabis brands). His debut came in 1992 when he featured on Dr. Dre\u2019s debut single, \u201cDeep Cover\u201d, and then on Dre\u2019s landmark debut solo album, \u201cThe Chronic.\u201d <\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cSnoop\u201d is the first project under the studio\u2019s overall deal with Death Row Pictures, the rapper\u2019s content label. Imagine Entertainment\u2019s Brian\u00a0Grazer, who worked on \u201c8 Mile,\u201d will produce the movie along with Snoop\u00a0Dogg and Death Row Pictures President Sara Ramaker.<\/p>\n

\n\tUniversal first announced the biopic in 2022, and Snoop shared at CinemaCon that production is expected to begin this summer.<\/p>\n
