{"id":554238,"date":"2026-07-22T15:36:09","date_gmt":"2026-07-22T15:36:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/il\/554238\/"},"modified":"2026-07-22T15:36:09","modified_gmt":"2026-07-22T15:36:09","slug":"share-your-views-how-do-you-feel-about-your-pension-and-retirement-plans-the-irish-times","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/il\/554238\/","title":{"rendered":"Share your views: how do you feel about your pension and retirement plans? \u2013 The Irish Times"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"c-paragraph free \">A survey by Royal London Ireland, published last week, suggests Irish workers believe they <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/business\/2026\/07\/16\/workers-will-need-41000-a-year-from-their-pension-for-a-comfortable-retirement\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/business\/2026\/07\/16\/workers-will-need-41000-a-year-from-their-pension-for-a-comfortable-retirement\/\" target=\"_blank\">will need almost \u20ac41,000 per year<\/a> for a comfortable retirement.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph free \">This week, Irish Times business reporter Ian Curran spoke to pension advisers on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/business\/2026\/07\/20\/how-big-should-your-pension-pot-be\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/business\/2026\/07\/20\/how-big-should-your-pension-pot-be\/\">how big your pension pot should be<\/a> for a comfortable retirement in Ireland. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph free \">Royal London Ireland calculates that to secure \u20ac40,860 a year on retirement, assuming they qualify for the State pension, someone earning \u20ac61,908 who starts saving at 30 would need to put away \u20ac1,135 per month. That is 22 per cent of their income. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph free \">Paul Merriman, chief executive of financial planning firm Fairstone, says that for most people beginning to save for their pension in their 30s, putting away 22 per cent of their income is \u201cmadness\u201d.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph free \">\u201cWe need to be talking to people about what\u2019s achievable for them,\u201d he says.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph free \">The Irish Times would like to know how readers are feeling about their pensions and retirement plans.
