After being tempted to stray with Mark Fowler<\/a> in yesterday’s (21 July) episode \u2013 and appearing on the verge of turning back to alcohol amid her anguish \u2013 EastEnders’s Lauren Beale was keen to get back to normality with husband Peter in tonight’s (22 July) instalment.

But in trying to make things right, she may have inadvertently raised some suspicions…<\/p>\n

Jacqueline Jossa’s character was seemingly being very intimate with Peter at the start of the episode, although Mark continued to contact her. She snuck off to the kitchen to answer his call and hissed: “You need to stop calling me. Stop messaging me. Leave me alone. It’s harassment now.”<\/p>\n

When Ian caught the tail end of the conversation, she lied that she was speaking to a “cold caller trying to sell me a car”, but her father-in-law appeared unconvinced.<\/p>\n

Later, with Ian’s trial hanging over the family<\/a>, they went to Harry’s Barn for some drinks \u2013 only for Lauren to realise a silent Mark was already there. After they locked eyes, he left, and Ian once again noticed something amiss in her visibly uncomfortable demeanour.<\/p>\n

The Beales’ drinks were later interrupted by an upset Chelsea, furious that they were out having fun on the eve of Ian’s court date for “nearly killing” her son Jordan.<\/p>\n

Ian left, followed by Lauren, who tried to convince him to stay. But when the two got back home, Ian confronted her over her behaviour.<\/p>\n

“You’ve been all sunshine and light,” he said. “None of your usual sarcasm. Distracted. You can’t get enough of Peter… and I’ve seen that before, Lauren. It’s guilt.”<\/p>\n

Lauren denied that anything was amiss, but after an emotional and heated conversation, Ian said: “Prove to me that you are not hiding anything. And I go to prison knowing my son is going to be okay.”<\/p>\n

“Even I don’t think I’m good enough for Peter most of the time,” a tearful Lauren replied. “But I’m gonna keep fighting for him because he is the love of my life, Ian. I promise you, I am not hiding anything. I’m never gonna hurt him again.”<\/p>\n

Is this really the end of Lauren’s chemistry with Mark? And what will happen if \u2013 or when \u2013 Peter and Ian find out the truth?<\/p>\n
