{"id":557175,"date":"2026-07-24T10:08:15","date_gmt":"2026-07-24T10:08:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/il\/557175\/"},"modified":"2026-07-24T10:08:15","modified_gmt":"2026-07-24T10:08:15","slug":"treasury-yields-retreat-10-year-hovers-around-january-2025-highs","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/il\/557175\/","title":{"rendered":"Treasury yields retreat, 10-year hovers around January 2025 highs"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>U.S. Treasury yields retreated on Friday after briefly hitting the highest level since January 2025 the day before, when Brent crude oil&#8217;s climb above $100 per barrel reignited inflationary fears.<\/p>\n<p>The yield on the 10-year U.S. Treasury note \u2014 the key benchmark for mortgage and auto loans and credit card debt \u2014 was last seen down one basis point at 4.693%. On Thursday, it had risen above 4.7%, the highest level since Jan. 15, 2025, before the start of President Donald Trump&#8217;s second term.<\/p>\n<p>The 2-year Treasury note yield, which more closely tracks short-term Federal Reserve interest rate policy, pulled back almost 2 basis points to 4.333%. The longer-dated 30-year Treasury bond yield was flat.<\/p>\n<p>One basis point equals 0.01%, and yields and prices move inversely to one another.<\/p>\n<p>U.S. President <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/donald-trump\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Donald Trump<\/a> said he will soon make a decision on whether to launch a &#8220;massive attack&#8221; on Iran after the conflict in the Middle East extended to a new battleground in the Red Sea.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.axios.com\/2026\/07\/23\/trump-axios-iran-interview\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Axios<\/a> on Thursday, the president said the proposed strikes would be bigger than anything seen in the war so far, and that Iran has not &#8220;received enough pain yet.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I am considering a massive attack. Bigger than ever before. I am close to making a decision.
