Once the new CEO takes office, Shashua has been offered the position of chairman, with a focus on long-term technological trends and innovation opportunities, including the expansion of Mobileye\u2019s humanoid robotics activity.<\/p>\n
\u201cOn behalf of the board, I would like to express our deep appreciation to Amnon for his extraordinary leadership as Mobileye\u2019s founder and CEO,\u201d board Chairman Sifiso Dabengwa said.<\/p>\n
\u201cAs a groundbreaking technology leader, Amnon helped shape not only Mobileye, but also played a decisive role in the development of the advanced driver-assistance systems industry and modern autonomous driving.\u201d<\/p>\n
Dabengwa described Shashua as one of the leading figures in advanced driver-assistance systems, artificial intelligence and robotics, saying his work had kept Mobileye at the technological forefront.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe thank Amnon for his continued commitment to the company as we work to ensure a smooth transition,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Dabengwa said the board retained full confidence in Mobileye\u2019s strategy, management team, technological platform, customer relationships and long-term opportunities.<\/p>\n
\u201cAs we move to the next stage of management succession planning, we are focused on selecting the right leader to help guide us through the next phase of growth,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Shashua described Mobileye as his life\u2019s work.<\/p>\n
\u201cFor nearly three decades, Mobileye has been my life\u2019s work,\u201d he said. \u201cAs the company continues to grow and evolve, I believe this is the right moment to establish the leadership structure best suited for Mobileye\u2019s next chapter.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cI remain deeply committed to Mobileye\u2019s success and excited about the opportunities ahead, particularly in advanced artificial intelligence, autonomous systems and humanoid robotics.\u201d<\/p>\n
Shashua said he would support the board and management team throughout the transition and continue contributing in areas where he could have the greatest long-term impact.<\/p>\n
Mobileye said the planned transition reflected the next stage in its development as a global technology leader and was intended to preserve continuity in leadership, strategy and execution while positioning the company for further growth.<\/p>\n
Intel Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer David Zinsner also thanked Shashua for his leadership.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe at Intel thank Amnon for his leadership, dedication and commitment to building Mobileye into an industry leader,\u201d Zinsner said.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe remain optimistic about Mobileye and its trajectory, and look forward to working with the new CEO and the management team on the next chapter of Mobileye\u2019s success story.\u201d<\/p>\n
The leadership announcement came alongside stronger-than-expected second-quarter results. Mobileye reported revenue of $508 million, exceeding the $481.24 million expected by analysts surveyed by LSEG.<\/p>\n
The company\u2019s shares rose about 8% in premarket trading.<\/p>\n
Shashua attributed the quarterly performance to \u201cstrong momentum\u201d in Mobileye\u2019s core business as the company prepares for several advanced product launches in late 2026 and throughout 2027.<\/p>\n
During his tenure, Shashua led Mobileye through several major milestones. The company\u2019s 2014 initial public offering was at the time the largest-ever IPO by an Israeli company.<\/p>\n
He later helped oversee Mobileye\u2019s $15.3 billion sale to Intel in 2017. Mobileye returned to public markets in 2022, while Intel retained approximately 77% of the company\u2019s shares.<\/p>\n
Under Shashua, Mobileye developed into a major global supplier of advanced driver-assistance and autonomous-driving technology, including computer-vision systems and its EyeQ family of chips.<\/p>\n
The company has also begun applying its experience in building and deploying intelligent systems to new fields, including artificial intelligence and robotics.<\/p>\n
Shashua is an internationally recognized technologist, entrepreneur and academic known for his contributions to machine learning and computer vision, with applications in autonomous driving, robotics and large language models.<\/p>\n
Since 2007, he has held the Sachs Chair in Computer Science at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.<\/p>\n
His honors include election to the U.S. National Academy of Engineering in 2026, inclusion in the 2025 TIME100 AI list, the Israel Prize for Lifetime Achievement in 2023, the Autonomous Hall of Fame\u2019s Mobility Innovator Award in 2022 and the Dan David Prize in artificial intelligence in 2020.<\/p>\n
The timing of Shashua\u2019s formal departure will depend on the appointment of his successor.
