She wasn\u2019t expecting to lead from 600m out, but she\u2019s glad she did. Tahe last 10m, though, she felt safe, and she\u2019s \u201cstoked\u201d.<\/p>\n Share<\/a><\/p>\n In the men\u2019s 800m free final, Sam Short of Australia, the 400m champ, leads by a distance at halfway, with Benjamin Goedemans second and Daniel Wiffen of Northern Ireland third.<\/p>\n Share<\/a><\/p>\n Oh man, that\u2019s got the eyeballs leaking. We\u2019ve not a clue what our competitors have invested in making it to here, but we know it\u2019s more than we can comprehend.<\/p>\n Share<\/a><\/p>\n A tearful Whiston says it\u2019s been a very long journey and her dad\u2019s just been diagnosed with Parkinson\u2019s, so she wanted to make him proud \u2013 this race was for him. She didn\u2019t see him on the way round, and \u201csport isn\u2019t just about us, it\u2019s about the community behind us.\u201d<\/p>\n She loves pushing her body to see what it can do and now she wants to cheer on Team England. A school teacher, she thinks her kids will enjoy it and she\u2019s really looking forward to watching it back with them.<\/p>\n Share<\/a><\/p>\n But much as we\u2019d love to stay with them, the action says nah.
