As far as Casio<\/a> G-Shock<\/a> models go, the DW-6900 is as classic as they come. So it only makes sense that the brand would choose this model to reinvent in a collaboration paying tribute to one of the 1980s’ most iconic sports car.<\/p>\n

The Casio G-Shock<\/a> DW6900MO26-4 is the result of a partnership between Casio and the lifestyle brand Midnight Organic, created by Bay Area rapper Larry June. Immediately, the most striking aspect of the watch’s design is the bright orange finish on the case and strap,<\/p>\n

June’s 1987 Chevrolet Corvette, which he affectionately refers to as “Tropical Guts”, is the colour inspiration here. The rapper bought the car for $3,500 in 2018 after he saw it parked in California and it caught his eye: the silver metallic exterior was standard for the iconic ’80s sports car,, but the vivid, bright orange custom interior immediately grabbed his attention. Casio’s watch bears the same contrast, with smaller metallic elements around the dial and a silver-colored metal keeper, surrounded by the intense orange. <\/p>\n

It also keeps the DW-6900’s three circular indicators, but has ‘Midnight Oragnic’ branding just above the display, and the brand’s circular emblem on the caseback, which reads “1991, You’re owing Good”. If you press the light button, the display has a red “Good Job!” message. <\/p>\n

Best of all, it’s still a classic G-Shock<\/a> on the inside, with shock resistance, 200 metres of water resistance, a 1\/100th-second stopwatch, a countdown timer and more. The limited-edition watch, which comes in a matching bright orange box, is $170 (\u00a3128), currently only available through Midnight Organic. It will hit G-Shock’s US website, SoHo store in New York, and select retailers on Friday 31st. International release has not yet been announced.
