Olyslagers applauds her teammate but must now decide whether to stay at this height or increase to 1.99. She was definitely moving fastest at the line but needed another 10m \u2013 the 10m she wasted at the gun \u2013 for her speed endurance to take control. Torrie Lewis was also impressive in the semis, though, likewise Imani Lansiquot, so let\u2019s see who\u2019s got most left; Hunt has that 200m speed endurance, though, which might tell.<\/p>\n Share<\/a><\/p>\n Eseme says it was \u201ca crazy race\u201d, and he surprised by the time, but had to take confidence from the semi which he came through without fussing too much. So he told himself to do the same thing and not to rush, amazing for a 100m race, and it\u2019d be alright.<\/p>\n The interviewer tells him she\u2019s impressed as he\u2019s 52 years old \u2013 he\u2019s actually 32 \u2013 and he says he didn\u2019t start athletics until the age of 24, The Commonwealth Games<\/a> have been a door-opener for him, he trains at Sporting Clube inPortugal and his coach listens to him \u2013 it\u2019s a team effort.<\/p>\n His family are watching at home, his 10-month old son included, and he\u2019s at once very happy and very measured. Mazal tov, old mate.<\/p>\n Share<\/a>Camryn Rogers of Canada wins gold in the women’s hammer with a Games record of 74.91<\/p>\n Lauren Bruce of New Zealand takes silver with 69.82 and Lara Roberts of Australia bronze with 68.05. But Eseme found an extra gear, hit the front with 5m to go, and i\u2019ve no idea how he found enough to win that race; by the end, he was flying.<\/p>\n Share<\/a><\/p>\n Eseme couldn\u2019t have left it much later, but he was the quickest in the semi and dug deep to win the final, powering past and going away.
