Apple TV<\/a> holds the distinction of being one of the only streaming services<\/a> to offer only original content on its platform: You won\u2019t find a rotating library of blockbusters and classic sitcoms there. Instead, you\u2019ll get a tightly curated collection of interesting content for kids and adults alike. That includes shows such as Widow\u2019s Bay, The Morning Show and Shrinking and movies like F1: The Movie \u2014 all produced by and for Apple.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Because Apple\u2019s content collection is thoughtfully curated, it doesn\u2019t release as many titles each month as some of its competitors, but what it does put out always piques our interest. This month marks the return of Ted Lasso, a show that declared it was really and truly over after its third season ended in 2023, only to announce in 2025 it would return with new episodes. Also arriving this month is a new documentary about the legacy of the UConn Huskies, the 12-time NCAA women\u2019s basketball champions. The Dynasty: UConn Huskies arrives on Aug. 21. Want something less sporty? A new season of the acclaimed Apple TV original sci-fi thriller Dark Matter, starring Joel Edgerton, also premieres this month.<\/p>\n

Ted Lasso (Season 4)<\/p>\n

Just when you thought Ted Lasso was done, the show comes roaring back for yet another season (and right on the heels of the World Cup, too). This season, Ted returns to Richmond, London, where he finds himself coaching a second division women\u2019s football team. While many familiar faces, including Jason Sudeikis, Brett Goldstein, Brendan Hunt, Jeremy Swift, Hannah Waddingham and Juno Temple, will return for the new season, we\u2019ll also meet a whole cast of new characters too, including Tanya Reynolds (Sex Education), Aisling Sharkey (Jurassic World: Dominion) and Faye Marsay (Game of Thrones).<\/p>\n

Women in Blue (Season 2)<\/p>\n

Women in Blue (also known as Las Azules) is a Mexican series inspired by true stories of Mexico\u2019s first female police force. The 10-episode first season (out on Apple TV now) will be followed up by a brand new season that arrives this month and finds the team of detectives confronting new cases, corruption and secrets within their department. The first episode of season 2 arrives on Wednesday, Aug. 12, followed by one episode per week through Sept. 30.<\/p>\n

The Dynasty: UConn Huskies<\/p>\n

Some of the greatest WNBA stars of all time \u2014 Diana Taurasi, Sue Bird, Napheesa Collier, Breanna Stewart \u2014 all went to UConn and played as Huskies under the eye of coach Geno Auriemma (as did the two most recent No. 1 draft picks Paige Bueckers and Azzi Fudd). The Dynasty: UConn Huskies is a new three-part series arriving Aug. 21 that chronicles the rise of the most dominant program in women\u2019s college basketball history. It includes interviews with some of its most illustrious players, and highlights the impact the program has had on the sport.<\/p>\n

Dark Matter (Season 2)<\/p>\n

Based on the celebrated sci-fi novel of the same name by Blake Crouch, Dark Matter is the story of a physicist, Jason Dessen (Joel Edgerton), who is abducted and taken to a lab where he undergoes a procedure that lets him live an alternate version of his life. Edgerton plays two versions of himself in the show, with his original self desperate to get back to the life he once knew. In season 2, Jason and his wife, Daniela (Jennifer Connelly), think their lives have settled into some sense of normalcy, but eventually realize things are far from stable. The show premieres on Aug. 28, and new episodes will arrive weekly on Fridays.<\/p>\n
