Following a fourth-place finish at the 2026 FIFA World Cup<\/a> and the appointment of a new men\u2019s national team manager, the French Football Federation is continuing to build a new era with the unveiling of a new France national team<\/a> crest.<\/p>\n

The crest was launched on the FFF\u2019s website and social media platforms on Wednesday, July 29. While the iconic rooster remains the focal point, the new identity \u201caddresses several objectives: modernizing the current visual identity, better adapting it to digital, marketing and event uses, and providing a common graphic framework for all national selections,\u201d according to the FFF.<\/p>\n

The new rooster is \u201cmore assertive, more embodied, and with a conquering attitude,\u201d the FFF says. It remains mainly gold, but adds more blue detailing inside its body and does away with the bit of ground it was standing on. The comb and the wattles on its head remain red. As before, a gold \u201cFFF\u201d sits below the rooster, but the new crest adds \u201cFRANCE\u201d in arched gold lettering under that. The two gold stars above the rooster mark the country\u2019s World Cup wins in 1998 and 2018.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis new visual identity responds to a simple objective: to give the French National Teams a more modern, consistent, and impactful expression. It is based on a balance between the history of the French National Teams and today\u2019s practices. The new rooster is part of this continuity, with a more assertive, distinctive design conceived to reinforce the brand\u2019s lifestyle and cultural dimension.\u201d<\/p>\n

In the recent 2026 FIFA World Cup, the crest on their Nike home kit<\/a> was solid copper, while on the away kit, it had a mottled copper pattern.<\/p>\n

The FFF first used a rooster crest for France\u2019s national teams in the 1920s. The rooster has been a symbol of France<\/a> since the Middle Ages, but it resurged in popularity during the French Revolution, which started in 1789.<\/p>\n

Along with the crest, the FFF has rolled out a new comprehensive visual identity that includes a refreshed colour palette and custom-designed typefaces.<\/p>\n
