Related: Coronation Street’s Sydney Martin shares first reaction to “daunting” Betsy story<\/a><\/p>\n Lane played Shepherd\u2019s on-screen wife Kylie Platt, but she left the show in July 2016 when her character was brutally stabbed to death on the cobbles in broad daylight.<\/p>\n Reflecting on her departure, Lane said in her message: “Ten years since Kylie left, I can’t even fathom how quickly that has gone, it\u2019s crazy.”<\/p>\n “I just had the best six years ever and I have such fond memories,” she continued. “There was never a day when I dreaded going into work with Jack. Every day was full of hidden surprises. Some of my fondest memories were just letting those characters grow and seeing their relationship develop.”<\/p>\n Lane added: “Something special to come out of it is that we’ve always left the audience wanting more. I\u2019d rather that than it just fizzle out over time, affair after affair or whatever. She’s hit the nail on the head there, hasn’t she?”<\/p>\n His co-hosts agreed as Price said: “It was a real moment, Jack, and it was a real hole in the Platts, I felt. It slotted in, you two, and then they go, and then your double act\u2019s gone.”<\/p>\n Smith then added: “Kylie and David were so, so strong,” as Price interjected again and told Shepherd: “You took David from this kind of petulant kid who didn\u2019t give a stuff, into a relationship where somebody went, ‘I’m not putting up with it’.”<\/p>\n Coronation Street airs on weeknights at 8.30pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX<\/a>.
