Georgia Baker has joined a select club in Australian cycling, winning her fifth Commonwealth Games gold medal.<\/p>\n
Baker joins sprinters Anna Meares and Matt Glaetzer and pursuit specialist Brad McGee on five gold medals after capping faultless teamwork to claim the scratch race win.<\/p>\n
After three golds at the Birmingham Games in 2022 and the team pursuit win in Glasgow, Baker can add to her haul in the women\u2019s points and elimination events over the last two days at the Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome.<\/p>\n
In contrast, Australian judoka Josh Katz was left crying on the shoulder of his coach and older brother Nathan after falling short of gold in the men\u2019s 60kg final after India\u2019s Harsh Singh nailed a waza-ari throw in the final minute of their bout.<\/p>\n

Katz took silver ahead of teammate Pedro Antun Neto, who beat Botswana\u2019s Tumiso Phuthego via ippon for bronze.<\/p>\n
Katz was not the only Australian to suffer heartbreak in Glasgow, with defending 2022 champion Tinka Easton and Games debutant Vas Middleton falling short of the podium.<\/p>\n
Katz, a Paris Olympian, was out to win gold with his brother after both siblings claimed bronze medals in 2022.<\/p>\n

\u201cA bit gutted,\u201d an emotional Josh Katz said after the final, having recorded three earlier wins in Glasgow.<\/p>\n
\u201cI felt really good today and super confident that I could win gold. Coming off straight away after losing a final that I felt like I could win, it hurts, for sure.<\/p>\n
\u201cYou know you got to wait a really long time (to fight for gold again), maybe never.<\/p>\n
\u201cI don\u2019t know how many more opportunities I\u2019m going to have.\u201d<\/p>\n
Holding back tears as he spoke, Katz joked he was awaiting a spray from Nathan.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe just gave me a hug, and I was crying a little on his shoulder,\u201d Katz said. \u201cIt makes me a little bit emotional.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe were looking at some pictures from four years ago, and we really wanted to try to make some more memories today.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe did. There were a few times today, we looked at each other and just laughed and smiled, like, \u2018oh yeah, like this is a pretty cool place to be\u2019.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s hard now, and I\u2019m sure he\u2019ll spray me out the back when I go back for losing the final. I wish we could have changed the colour of the medal.\u201d<\/p>\n
Easton was also in tears after a devastating loss by ippon to Cameroon\u2019s Marie Celine Baba Matia in their women\u2019s 52kg bronze-medal bout.<\/p>\n

The 30-year-old was defeated earlier in her semi-final by eventual gold medallist Evelyn Beaton, losing to the Canadian by yuko.<\/p>\n
\u201cI wanted to make magic happen again and reclaim my title. So it\u2019s a very, very disappointing end to the competition,\u201d Easton said.<\/p>\n
Middleton lost by yuko to Cypriot judoka Petros Christodoulides in their men\u2019s 66kg bronze-medal match.<\/p>\n
