{"id":569719,"date":"2026-08-01T03:26:23","date_gmt":"2026-08-01T03:26:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/il\/569719\/"},"modified":"2026-08-01T03:26:23","modified_gmt":"2026-08-01T03:26:23","slug":"kendrick-lamar-surprises-detroit-boy-who-lost-arms-in-dog-attack","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/il\/569719\/","title":{"rendered":"Kendrick Lamar surprises Detroit boy who lost arms in dog attack"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"Box-_wrDxHtU__Box-sc-10sa3ie-0 Text-nO2aZ44r__TextBase-sc-s2hv5x-0 jJNfBD fSvavs article-text\">DETROIT \u2013 A 7-year-old Detroit boy got a birthday surprise from his favorite rapper after <a href=\"https:\/\/www.clickondetroit.com\/news\/local\/2026\/05\/17\/hear-from-family-of-6-year-old-boy-who-lost-both-arms-in-detroit-dog-attack\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.clickondetroit.com\/news\/local\/2026\/05\/17\/hear-from-family-of-6-year-old-boy-who-lost-both-arms-in-detroit-dog-attack\/\">losing both his arms<\/a> in a dog attack earlier this year.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Box-_wrDxHtU__Box-sc-10sa3ie-0 Text-nO2aZ44r__TextBase-sc-s2hv5x-0 jJNfBD fSvavs article-text\">Romell Frazier Jr. got a birthday call from Kendrick Lamar and a surprise invitation to come visit the rapper in Los Angeles at his 7th birthday party Friday evening.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Box-_wrDxHtU__Box-sc-10sa3ie-0 Text-nO2aZ44r__TextBase-sc-s2hv5x-0 jJNfBD fSvavs article-text\">\u201cWhat\u2019s up man, how you feeling?\u201d Lamar asked Romell over the phone.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Box-_wrDxHtU__Box-sc-10sa3ie-0 Text-nO2aZ44r__TextBase-sc-s2hv5x-0 jJNfBD fSvavs article-text\">\u201cGood,\u201d he replied.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Box-_wrDxHtU__Box-sc-10sa3ie-0 Text-nO2aZ44r__TextBase-sc-s2hv5x-0 jJNfBD fSvavs article-text\">Romell was attacked by two pit bulls in March in Detroit and underwent a double amputation. His mother, Preshauna Jones, said the dogs also badly injured his legs, including damage to his right calf and part of his left foot. She spent months at his side through multiple surgeries and rehabilitation.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Box-_wrDxHtU__Box-sc-10sa3ie-0 Text-nO2aZ44r__TextBase-sc-s2hv5x-0 jJNfBD fSvavs article-text\">After returning home, Romell had one request. He wanted his favorite rapper, Kendrick Lamar, to come to his birthday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Box-_wrDxHtU__Box-sc-10sa3ie-0 Text-nO2aZ44r__TextBase-sc-s2hv5x-0 jJNfBD fSvavs article-text\">\u201cI\u2019m glad you reached out. I\u2019m glad I got to talk to you,\u201d Lamar said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Box-_wrDxHtU__Box-sc-10sa3ie-0 Text-nO2aZ44r__TextBase-sc-s2hv5x-0 jJNfBD fSvavs article-text\">The rapper also shared some words of encouragement.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Box-_wrDxHtU__Box-sc-10sa3ie-0 Text-nO2aZ44r__TextBase-sc-s2hv5x-0 jJNfBD fSvavs article-text\">\u201cYou continue to be great, continue to keep that smile on your face,\u201d Lamar said. \u201cYou\u2019re giving us a whole lot of inspiration with how strong you are.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"Box-_wrDxHtU__Box-sc-10sa3ie-0 Text-nO2aZ44r__TextBase-sc-s2hv5x-0 jJNfBD fSvavs article-text\">Jones said her son will need more surgery before he can start using prosthetics and has had to relearn everyday tasks.
