CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) It\u2019s been a long time coming for Taylor Swift fans. After her 12th studio album, the Life of a Show Girl, came out Friday, fans flocked to local theaters for release parties featuring the premiere of Swift\u2019s new music video this weekend.<\/p>\n
Fans held album release parties at midnight to celebrate the new launch of her album. This weekend, fans blasted her music out of their car speakers, made friendship bracelets and filled up movie theaters to see her music come to life on the big screen.<\/p>\n
Sweeter than Fiction, a bookstore on King Street that sells all things Taylor swift, is celebrating the album release all month.<\/p>\n
Thursday, they held an album release party at midnight. Saturday, they booked the Terrace Theater for a showing of \u201cThe Fate of Ophelia.\u2019 On October 17th, you can paint a Taylor Swift vinyl with them, all part of Swift\u2019s master marketing campaign that reaches thousands of fans.<\/p>\n
\u201cOne of the biggest things she excels at is almost anybody can relate to her music,\u201d said Callie Lamb, the owner of Sweeter than Fiction. \u201cEven if it\u2019s not about the situation you think she was talking about, you can still relate it back to your life in some way or another and I think that\u2019s one of the biggest marketing things she\u2019s done. With \u2018Life of a Showgirl\u2019 specifically, the branding is so in your face, and you see all these major companies jumping on it too, it\u2019s great she has a global impact every time she does anything.\u201d<\/p>\n
Some fans say Taylor Swift\u2019s biggest impact is the community she brings together, especially in Charleston.<\/p>\n
\u201cShe released signed CDs the other day, I had a customer come in here and go I\u2019m going to wait here I\u2019m in queue but at least I know you\u2019re in the queue too,\u201d said Lamb. \u201cI\u2019m like yep we\u2019ll wait it out together, so it\u2019s been good it\u2019s been great building a community that loves all the same things we all love.\u201d<\/p>\n
