Netflix releases a lot of new movies every year, and here at Tom\u2019s Guide it\u2019s our mission to help you determine which are worth watching and which can be skipped. Because let\u2019s be frank, quantity doesn\u2019t necessarily mean quality, and Netflix is certainly guilty of dropping several dud originals.<\/p>\n

We\u2019ve reviewed many of the biggest tentpole Netflix original movies in 2026 (so far), and what better way to highlight the highs and lows of the streaming year to date than to rank them in a convenient numbered list! Below, I\u2019ve collected every Netflix movie review the Tom\u2019s Guide streaming team has published, to give you a snapshot look at what\u2019s worth watching.<\/p>\n

After hitting his head, he awakens in a world where power dynamics have shifted, and it\u2019s women who sit at the top of the ladder. To return to \u201cnormality,\u201d he has to spar with Alex Fox (Rosamund Pike), the female version of himself, and learn a few life lessons.<\/p>\n

What our review said: “There is potential in a comedy that explores societal sexism through a humorous lens, but Netflix’s ‘Ladies First’ completely fails to say anything meaningful. The end result is a largely joyless comedy that wastes the talents of Rosamund Pike and offers viewers little to enjoy beyond a singular, not particularly funny in the first place, gag.”<\/p>\n

What our review said: “Netflix survival thriller “Thrash” feels caught between the demands of pleasing every shark movie fan, delivering muted thrills but also only the occasional laugh. It’s elevated by some decent performances and will probably do well on the streamer, but it’s no must-watch.”<\/p>\n

10. ‘Office Romance’<\/p>\n

What our review said: “‘Office Romance’ is another flavorless rom-com for Netflix’s vast movie catalog. Its conflicting tone, ill-matched leads, and refusal to rewrite the genre script sink any ambitions of standing out. Then again, ‘Office Romance’ doesn’t seem to have any aspiration of being anything other than a disposable rom-com in the first place.”<\/p>\n

9. ‘People We Meet on Vacation’<\/p>\n

What it\u2019s about: Poppy (Emily Bader) and Alex (Tom Blyth) are polar-opposite personalities; she\u2019s a free spirit, he\u2019s uptight and obsessed with planning, yet they\u2019ve become best friends. Striking a deal to take a vacation together every summer, their dynamic shifts over the years, as they consider whether their travel buddy might actually be the person they should be with.<\/p>\n

What our review said: \u201c\u2018This new Netflix rom-com has a lot in common with so-called \u201cbeach reads.\u201d It\u2019s disposable and predictable, and not especially well put together. However, while the best novels made for consuming on a summer vacation at least offer no-frills entertainment, \u201cPeople We Meet on Vacation\u201d fails to meet even this lowered bar.\u201d<\/p>\n

8. ‘War Machine’<\/p>\n

What it\u2019s about: During the grueling final stages of the US Army Ranger selection process, recruit 81 (Alan Ritchson) and his companions face an unforeseen, extraterrestrial battle for survival when a mechanical monster from another world falls from the skies. Outgunned, they have to rely on each other and their tactical training to fend off a powerful alien threat.<\/p>\n

What our review said: \u201cThe ending of this movie is a bit baffling, as it drags on too long and serves only to set up a sequel we may never get. But this action movie is largely well-paced, and Alan Ritchson is well-cast. Unfortunately, for all its explosiveness, \u2018War Machine\u2019 is just too formulaic and fails to use its star to the fullest.\u201d<\/p>\n

What our review said: “If you don’t mind your rom-coms being highly predictable, you might find ‘Voicemails for Isabelle’ charming enough to warrant a watch. It rigidly follows the genre playbook, but you’ll still find yourself invested in this meet-cute romance thanks to strong work from its leads, Zoey Deutch and Nick Robinson.”<\/p>\n

What our review said: “‘Apex’ is a mostly forgettable blend of the thriller genre’s greatest hits. It’s sorely lacking in original ideas of its own, but Charlize Theron and a devilishly unhinged Taron Egerton keep you invested until the conclusion. Just don’t expect to remember much. ‘Apex’ fades from memory mere hours after watching.”<\/p>\n

5. ‘Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man’<\/p>\n

The future of his family and legacy is at stake as Shelby must decide to face his demons for good or burn it all to the ground.<\/p>\n

What our review said: “Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man” is a solid extra helping of Steven Knight’s crime drama, with much of the swagger and style of the show that came before. It’s a capstone to a beloved show that I think (mostly!) sticks the landing, even if it takes a little while to get going, and never quite hits the heights of some of the series’ most memorable moments.”<\/p>\n

What it\u2019s about: Starting her freshman year at college, Devon (Sadie Sandler) is hoping to find her place after a difficult high school experience. She strikes up a fast friendship with Celeste (Chloe East). They agree to be roommates before their tight bond gives way to passive-aggressive tension, disregarded personal boundaries, and many harsh insults.<\/p>\n

What our review said: “Roommates is a funny college comedy about two fast friends who just as quickly become sworn enemies. A particularly questionable structural decision hurts the pacing, but Sadie Sandler’s Devon is a likeable and relatable lead, and Chloe East is great as the ‘cool girl,’ who smiles while stabbing you in the back.”<\/p>\n

It\u2019s also narrated by an octopus (voiced by Alfred Molina). It\u2019s a story of finding hope in the most unlikely of places.<\/p>\n

What our review said: \u201cNetflix’s “Remarkably Bright Creatures” is a warm, feel-good feature that’s made for leisurely weekend viewing. It’s a simple, charming tale buoyed by strong performances from its leads, and one that I’m happy to recommend.\u201d<\/p>\n

2. ‘Enola Holmes 3’<\/p>\n

What our review said: \u201c\u2018Enola Holmes 3\u2019 is a stylish, emotionally richer sequel that deepens the franchise\u2019s charm while raising the stakes with a more personal mystery. Millie Bobby Brown anchors it brilliantly, balancing heart, humor, and action, even when supporting performances occasionally falter.<\/p>\n
