Hulu<\/a>\u2019s popularity could be attributed to its vast collection of great older TV shows and movies<\/a> and some top-notch original shows, including Only Murders in the Building, Paradise and The Handmaid\u2019s Tale. The platform\u2019s collaboration with FX has also produced some of the platform\u2019s most prestigious and popular shows, including The Bear, Reservation Dogs and Shogun.<\/p>\n

Hulu (specifically FX on Hulu) has a couple of major premieres this month, including the newest series from Ryan Murphy, The Shards, a teen drama based on Bret Easton Ellis\u2019s novel. Also dropping this month is the 18th season of the sitcom It\u2019s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.<\/p>\n

If you want Kardashian-adjacent content, you can find plenty of it on the platform in August, too. The Girls: A Khlo\u00e9 Kardashian Project is a new reality series produced by Kardashian, which focuses on the lives of some of her closest friends as they build their careers, raise their kids and lean on each other for support. Also arriving this month is a feature-length documentary, Travis Barker: Louder Than Fear, about Barker\u2019s often tumultuous life and career, which has changed drastically since his marriage to Kourtney Kardashian.<\/p>\n

Futurama (Season 14)<\/p>\n

After 10 years off the air, the Fox animated series Futurama was resurrected by Hulu for a streaming reboot in 2023. Now, another new season is arriving on the platform. The show, which is about a pizza delivery driver, Philip J. Fry (Billy West), who is cryogenically frozen and awakened in the year 3000, will premiere on Aug. 3 with two episodes followed by one episode weekly on Mondays.<\/p>\n

The Shards (series premiere)<\/p>\n

Ryan Murphy\u2019s latest show, The Shards, adapts Bret Easton Ellis\u2019s semiautobiographical novel of the same name into a six-part series set at an elite LA prep school. Igby Rigney plays Easton Ellis as he enters his senior year of high school in 1981 and meets a mysterious new student, Robert Mallory (Euphoria\u2019s Homer Gere). The first two episodes of the show arrive on Aug. 5; new episodes arrive each week thereafter.<\/p>\n

Travis Barker: Louder Than Fear<\/p>\n

Travis Barker is the drummer for Blink-182, husband to Kourtney Kardashian and the survivor of a horrific plane crash that nearly took his life. In the new documentary Travis Barker: Louder Than Fear, directed by Justin Krook and Michael Dwyer, Barker, along with his friends and family, discusses his career, personal relationships, and the tragedy that changed his life. The film is set to premiere on Aug. 13.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s Always Sunny in Philadelphia (Season 18)<\/p>\n

The gang from Paddy\u2019s Pub is still slinging beers and chaos on It\u2019s Always Sunny in Philadelphia. The series is dropping its 18th season this month, which makes it the longest-running live-action sitcom of all time. The new season features the regular cast of characters, Charlie (Charlie Day), Dennis (Glenn Howerton), Mac (Rob Mac), Sweet Dee (Kaitlin Olson) and Frank (Danny DeVito). This season will have 10 episodes, the first of which arrives on Aug. 17.<\/p>\n

In the Steven Soderbergh film The Christophers, out this month on Hulu, Ian McKellen stars as a painter named Julian Sklar whose greedy children (played by Jessica Gunning and James Corden) are out to profit off his talents. They hire an artist, Lori (Michaela Coel), to complete a series of Julian\u2019s unfinished paintings so they can secretly sell them off. (\u201cThe Christophers\u201d is the name of the series of paintings Julian has created.) The plan goes awry when Lori teams up with Julian instead.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Adults (Season 2)<\/p>\n

The hit sitcom Adults returns to Hulu for season 2 on Aug. 27. The series, created by Ben Kronengold and Rebecca Shaw, stars Malik Elassal, Lucy Freyer, Jack Innanen, Amita Rao and Owen Thiele as a group of young friends living together in Queens, New York. Season 2 consists of eight new episodes, with two arriving each week.<\/p>\n

The Girls: A Khloe Kardashian Project (series premiere)<\/p>\n

The Girls: A Khloe Kardashian Project is a new docuseries about Kardashian\u2019s inner circle of close friends, including Natalie Halcro, Khadijah Haqq, Malika Haqq, Yris Palmer, Olivia Pierson and Nicole Williams-English. A premiere date has not been announced, but the series is scheduled to arrive in August.<\/p>\n
