A public wake will be held for Glen Hansard in Dublin on Bank Holiday Monday followed by his funeral on Tuesday.<\/p>\n
The singer-songwriter died in a crash in the early hours of Wednesday, hours after taking part in a trad session at The Wren’s Nest pub.<\/p>\n
Former US president Barack Obama, Bruce Springsteen, US actor Rachel Zegler, Hamilton creator Lin-Manuel Miranda, and pop star Billie Eilish are among the high-profile names who have paid tribute to The Frames frontman after his death.<\/p>\n
Bono, Bob Geldof, Cait O’Riordan, Andrea Corr, and Hozier also paid tribute and a memorial busk was held in Dublin last night for him by fellow buskers.<\/p>\n
A public wake will be held for Hansard in the Baroque Chapel at IMMA, Royal Hospital Kilmainham, on Monday 3 August between 11am and 4pm.<\/p>\n
Hansard will lie in repose for those wishing to pay their respects.<\/p>\n
The funeral will take place the following day at St Patrick’s Cathedral in Dublin city centre at 1:30pm.<\/p>\n
While the funeral will also be open to the public, access inside the cathedral will be limited given the numbers expected.<\/p>\n
Music at the funeral will be provided by Hansard’s friends and family.<\/p>\n
The funeral will also be broadcast on the RT\u00c9 News channel.<\/p>\n
