The Technion-Israel Institute of Technology\u00a0was ranked 25th worldwide in a new index measuring universities\u2019 ability to advance AI research, talent, and entrepreneurship.<\/p>\n

The Technion ranked first among Israeli institutions and fourth in Europe. The index also ranked the university eighth in the world for the number of graduates who go on to found AI companies<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The AI Production Capacity index was compiled by the US public relations firm W5 and ranks the world\u2019s top 50 universities by their influence on AI<\/a> research and industry.<\/p>\n

The index evaluates factors including the number of alumni and faculty members employed by leading AI companies<\/a>, entrepreneurship and human capital, startup founders, unicorn creation, venture funding, research output and quality, computing infrastructure, and the depth of AI education.<\/p>\n

It also considers how frequently universities are mentioned by generative AI systems<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Technion outperforms larger, elite universities\u00a0<\/p>\n

Despite operating with significantly fewer resources than many of the world\u2019s largest and best-funded universities, the Technion outperformed several elite institutions in key areas of the ranking.<\/p>\n

Technion President Prof. Uri Sivan said the university\u2019s ranking was particularly significant given the gap in resources between the Technion and many leading institutions abroad.<\/p>\n

\u201cDespite the dramatic disparity in resources between the Technion and leading American universities and other top institutions worldwide, the Technion has secured a place among the world\u2019s leading universities and at the top of the Israeli rankings,\u201d Sivan said.<\/p>\n

\u201cTechnion researchers were among the pioneers of machine learning, helping lay the foundations for leadership in AI as a whole,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

Sivan said the Technion\u2019s position was reflected not only in its research, but also in the growing role of AI across its academic programs and its ties with industry in Israel and abroad.<\/p>\n

\u201cAI tools are now essential in the workplace, and we ensure that our students acquire these skills alongside a strong foundation in mathematics, science, and engineering,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

The university ranked ahead of Harvard in two categories: the number of faculty members and graduates working in the AI industry, and the number of alumni who went on to establish AI companies.<\/p>\n

Technion\u2019s AI performance holds across multiple rankings<\/p>\n

When adjusted for institutional size, the Technion\u2019s performance in alumni entrepreneurship was comparable to Stanford, which placed first overall.<\/p>\n

The Technion also achieved a stronger overall ranking than Duke, Northwestern, and the University of Pennsylvania, despite working with substantially smaller budgets.<\/p>\n

Sivan noted that other international measures had produced similar results, including CSRankings, which placed the Technion first in Europe for the number of AI papers presented at leading international conferences.<\/p>\n
