{"id":575032,"date":"2026-08-05T00:56:13","date_gmt":"2026-08-05T00:56:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/il\/575032\/"},"modified":"2026-08-05T00:56:13","modified_gmt":"2026-08-05T00:56:13","slug":"driver-charged-with-transporting-gaza-residents-without-permits","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/il\/575032\/","title":{"rendered":"Driver charged with transporting Gaza residents without permits"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>An Israeli man and two <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jpost.com\/israel-news\/defense-news\/article-904571\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Gaza<\/a> residents were indicted on Tuesday after the driver admitted to transporting the two Gazans in exchange for NIS 50.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jpost.com\/israel-news\/crime-in-israel\/article-904568\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">indictments<\/a> were filed against all three on Tuesday at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jpost.com\/israel-news\/defense-news\/article-903182\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Nazareth<\/a> Magistrate\u2019s Court, along with requests to keep them in custody until the end of legal proceedings.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">The driver, Mahmoud Khatib, admitted last week that he had transported the two men from their lodging in Kafr Kanna to their workplace.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">According to the indictment, Northern District patrol officers had spotted a Skoda traveling through Kafr Kanna last week. After noticing the police vehicle, one of the passengers quickly lowered his head in an apparent attempt to hide.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">The officers stopped the vehicle and found the two Gaza residents, aged 37 and 54, who did not have permits to be in Israel.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">Following the investigation, the Israel Police\u2019s Nazareth North Prosecution Unit charged Khatib, a 74-year-old resident of Kafr Kanna, with transporting people who were in Israel illegally.
