The official website for the anime of Takara Tomy<\/a>‘s PuniRunes<\/a> toyline announced on Saturday that the fourth anime season<\/a>, PuniRunes Puni 4<\/a>, will premiere on October 4 at 9:15 a.m. (October 3 at 8:15 p.m. EDT). The website also presented the new season’s main visual and teased that the season’s story is set in “Puni School.” <\/p>\n

Unlike other digital pets that you can raise, the PuniRunes toys also have a hole where you can put your finger to “pet” the soft creature inside. The anime began by following the daily life of PuniRunes \u2014 mysterious creatures who love to be coddled\u00a0\u2014 and Yuka, a fourth-grade girl who loves soft, squishy things. (Puni-puni is the Japanese onomatopoeic<\/a> term for soft and squishy.)<\/p>\n

Kunihiko Yuyama<\/a> (Fairy Princess Minky Momo<\/a>, Pok\u00e9mon<\/a>) served as chief director of the first two seasons, and Kentar\u014d Yamaguchi directed the first season at OLM Digital<\/a>. Gigaemon Ichikawa<\/a> (Chikasugi Idol Akae-chan<\/a>, The Fruit of Evolution: Before I Knew It, My Life Had It Made<\/a>, A Galaxy Next Door<\/a>) was in charge of the series scripts for the first three seasons, while Sayuri Ichiishi<\/a> (Pok\u00e9mon, Tamagotchi!<\/a>) designed the characters. <\/p>\n

The first season ran on TV Tokyo<\/a> and TV Osaka<\/a> from October 2022 to March 2023. The second season then debuted<\/a> in October 2024. The anime’s third season premiered in July 2025.<\/p>\n

Spin Master began streaming<\/a> the anime on YouTube<\/a> in September 2024. Spin Master released<\/a> the toy line in the United States.<\/p>\n
