Spotify said Tuesday it would begin adding \u201cAI Persona\u201d badges to some profiles from \u200bmid-September to give listeners more transparency about \u200cwhether the artists behind the music are real people.<\/p>\n
Listeners have expressed concerns about artist profiles that appear \u200bhuman but instead represent AI-generated personas, the \u200bmedia streaming platform said.<\/p>\n
Spotify will display the \u2060badge on banners and About sections in artist \u200bprofiles, as well as in Search and on \u200btrack rows across playlists.<\/p>\n
Starting Tuesday, artists can disclose that their profile represents an AI Persona through Spotify for Artists.<\/p>\n
Spotify \u200bwill also review profiles whose public identity \u200bappears to represent photorealistic AI-generated imagery.<\/p>\n
Spotify said it will exclude \u200cAI \u2060Personas from editorial and algorithmic recommendations by default unless users follow those artists.<\/p>\n
Artists whose profiles are flagged by Spotify\u2019s review team will be notified \u200band given \u200ban opportunity \u2060to self-disclose or appeal, it said.<\/p>\n
Listeners will also be able to see \u200bwhether an artist transparently shared that they \u200bwere \u2060an AI Persona or whether Spotify identified the profile through its own review.<\/p>\n
